A manufacturing company headquartered in Rancho Santa Margarita is searching for an experienced Grinder Operator. The ideal candidate will have experience setting up, operating and troubleshooting Cincinnati, automatic, hand feed, RSS grinders. This is a 1st shift (6AM to 2:30PM) position and the starting pay is $18 to $22, based on experience.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Set and adjust machine controls according to product specifications, utilizing knowledge of machine operation
  • Measure work pieces and lay out work, using precision measuring devices
  • Select machine tooling to be used, utilizing knowledge of machine and production requirements
  • Study blueprints, work orders, or machining instructions to determine product specifications, tool requirements, and operational sequences
  • Activate machine start-up switches to grind or cut work pieces, according to specifications
  • Inspect or measure finished work pieces to determine conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as gauges or micrometers, holding tolerances of +/- .001 to .00002 on Inside Diameter (I.D) & Outside Diameter (O.D), and checking parts to Blue Print requirements
  • Lift and position work pieces, manually on machine tables, face-plates, or chucks, using clamps
  • Set up, operate, or tend grinding and related tools that remove excess material or burrs from surfaces, sharpen edges or corners, or buff, or polish metal or plastic work pieces
  • Observe machine operations to detect any problems; make any necessary adjustments to correct problems
  • Inspects fasteners to verify correct machine set-up and operation by using micrometers, gauges and measuring devices.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
  • A minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED) from an accredited institution.
  • SPC (Statistical Process Control) knowledge
  • Ability to read blueprint and use measuring instruments.
  • Understanding of manufacturing tools and their proper use
  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions in English
  • Able to communicate effectively with other employees
  • Mechanically inclined and team oriented
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Willing to work overtime as needed to support business needs.
  • Skill in performing mid-level math skills efficiently and accurately (including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fraction and decimals)
  • Skill in using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers and other inspection gauges
  • Skill in reading and interpreting documents such as work orders, drawings, internal and customer specifications, manuals, and safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of 5s and lean concepts and ability to help move forward with achieving department goals is a plus.
  • Ensure all equipment, tools, and work station are in good working order and is free of safety hazards
  • Be able to pass a drug and background check
