A successful Data Analyst will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university; advanced degree in a STEM field a plus
  • 1 – 2 years of experience in an analytical role such as Data Analyst OR a degree in numerical fields (engineering, finance, math) in lieu of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Expertise in SQL and scripting languages. Familiarity with Python preferred.
  • Previous experience with AWS is desired but not required.
  • Comfortable working in Unix environment with a basic knowledge of shell scripting.
  • Basic data visualization skills using Excel.  Experience in Tableau preferred.

The Data Analyst will be a key member of the Data & Analytics team by:

  • Using the DISH STB Viewership data to speak to ad campaign performance metrics (reach, frequency and lift) and provide key insights on how people consume content.
  • Working with the DISH Media Sales team, 3rdparty data vendors and measurement partners to support business needs.
  • Assisting fellow analysts and the DISH IT team to onboard new partnerships into our automated data import/export solutions.
  • Developing innovative ways to monetize the data we have access to while being cognizant of MVPD privacy laws. 
  • Acting as a business contact for special projects coordinated across different teams in Media Sales and departments within DISH.
  • Attending industry conferences and accompanying the Media Sales team in face to face meetings to represent data operations.
  • Providing ad-hoc reporting on viewership data based on various demographic attributes of our subscriber base. 
  • Extracting and analyzing large datasets in databases like Netezza, Teradata, Hadoop using SQL, Python, VBA and custom-built tools.
