Required Skills:

  • BA/BS IT/IS Management, Contract or Vendor Management, or equivalent combination of education and experience in software asset management, sourcing, procurement or software contract management in the technology sector
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft licensing is a must. Experience with Adobe licensing also a plus
  • Preferred experience with ServiceNow
  • IATAM certifications, preferably CSAM
  • Prior effective team management experience
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills
  • Vendor management and Service Level Agreement management experience
  • Experience with Software as a Service (SaaS) and other cloud software licensing models
  • Knowledge of financial principles, budgeting, Capex, Opex and TCO
  • Understanding of commercial software and hardware licensing with an understanding of legal terms
  • Strong customer service and vendor negotiation skills
  • Familiarity with software licensing agreements from legal and compliance perspective  
  • Prior experience managing Microsoft and Adobe accounts
  • Technical documentation abilities

 

The IT Asset Manager will work as a member of the End User Computing team in IT Operations. The primary responsibility of this role will be key in the daily and long-term strategic management of software and technology-related hardware for DISH. This will include planning, monitoring, and recording software license and hardware assets to ensure compliance with vendor contracts. You will be instrumental in forming procurement strategies to optimize technology spending across the organization and. You will also oversee quality control and propose process improvements throughout hardware and software asset lifecycles. You will drive compliant and optimal use of software licenses while also looking for cost savings.

 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Maintains open source and commercial software inventory with legally approved terms and conditions from vendors ensuring that corporate legal has approved to ensure software compliance, and ensures renewals are completed in advance of the renewal dates
  • Take on the administration of licensing contracts with Microsoft and Adobe.
  • Research software requirements for all areas of the company as requests come in; ensure that best balance of price, quality, delivery, and vendor service is achieved
  • Maintain IT supported equipment lists for all supported hardware
  • Maintain situational awareness of all IT assets and employ unified and integrated asset inventory management linking individual hardware equipment, assigned software, the primary end user and organization/location information together
  • Perform hardware audit reconciliations and recommendations
  • Monitor supplier performance, work with suppliers on issue management; change suppliers as required
  • Maintain, and update related asset inventory database(s)  
  • Partner with technical resources on the design of technical solutions to ensure appropriate optimal cost effective software licensing models are employed  
  • Provide direction for lifecycle management to ensure proper maintenance and warranty tracking of all hardware assets across the enterprise
  • Partner with members of IT Purchasing and IT Finance to improve existing asset management processes
  • Identify efficiencies, drive partnership with other teams and execute operational improvements
  • Create dashboards and reports for on-demand visibility of key Asset Management statistics
  • Liaise with financial management for licensing related financial reporting matters
  • Collaborate with other teams to resolve ongoing process issues that may not be the responsibility of this role
  • Validate knowledge-base entries to ensure consistency of processes across PC Tech teams
