About this job

At Sierra Child & Family Services our mission is to help families reunite, to stop cycles of abuse, to provide special education services and behavior management skills and to assist families in successfully living together. Our staff shares a common goal to help children with genuine emotional challenges to function in the outside world and live in the least restrictive setting in which they can thrive.  The Family Specialist fills two important roles:

A Family Specialist provides 1:1 mental health rehabilitative services to clients and their caregivers in community and home settings. A Family Specialist will plan and design activities that will assist the child and family in developing the skills needed to reach their individual treatment goals.

Our Family Specialists also provide supervision during visits between children in care and their birth families. During these visits our Family Specialists ensure the safety of the children while modeling and coaching parenting skills to assist the families in their goal of safely reunifying with their children,

Many clients are school age children and are typically provided service after school hours or on weekends.  Services are provided in El Dorado County and may be provided in Amador County as needed. The Family Specialist position requires excellent communication skills and serves as a vital link between the Child/Family and other treatment team members.

•Prior experience working with emotionally disturbed children.

•Bachelor's degree from an accredited four year college or university in a related field of study.
