Fast paced and growing E-Commerce Company is seeking a Department Manager to join the government contracts department.

Job Description: Department Manager
The Department Manager is responsible for overseeing the bid/procurement department, setting short term and long term goals and objectives, planning/restructuring department to better fit company needs and objectives, reviewing and improving current process' and procedures and actively looking for additional business opportunities for the company. Duties to include but not limited to searching available Government and Private Sector contracts and bids with the objective of getting them awarded to the company. The position will also require the management and supervision of special projects and custom kit building. You will be responding competitively to the bids by sourcing products, negotiating better pricing with vendors and performing market and competitor research in order to offer competitive prices.
Position Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist with overseeing bid department operations; conduct daily opening and closing procedures
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

• Excellent decision-making, and communication skills
• Assist in managing and directing the daily activities of staff; plans, and manages functions concerned to procurement department environment
• Acts as an information source and answers bid representative questions, assigning tasks, following up and giving instructions as needed
• Attends, follows up and resolves customer complaints and questions
• Ensures the team members acquire the appropriate support and training to apply the best skills and knowledge on the job
• Carries out performance measurement, monitors, and evaluates all bid department staff to improve the efficiency
• Compiles and maintains lists of on-call and key schedules and personnel, and ensures the staff can use all lists as required

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Business preferred.
• 2 + years' experience in Management, Purchasing, Logistics, Supply Chain or similar.
• Detail oriented and extremely organized.
• Manage all aspects of the bid process, verify in detail bid requirements, deadlines and procedures.
• Review requisition orders in order to verify accuracy, terminology, specifications and completeness of all documents.
• Special projects assignments and custom Kit building.
• Accurate cost analysis and profitability for special projects.
• Contact suppliers in order to schedule or expedite deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries, and other problems.
• Prepare, maintain, and review invoices and purchasing files, reports and price lists.
• Strong negotiation, communication and organizational skills.
• Enjoy a fast paced, high-volume work environment.
• Strong problem solving skills.
• Strong team player.
• Works well and is effective under pressure.
• Performs at a high degree of difficulty without becoming overwhelmed

Compensation and Benefits:
• Salary- $18.00/hour
• A Comprehensive Health Plan- provided at no cost to the employee (eligible after 90 days of employment) for individual plan, family members eligible at additional cost.

• 401 K plan- eligible after 1 year of service
• 8 days paid time off- eligible after 1 year of service.
