Job Description

Position Overview :
Assist in the daily production operations, coach and develop hourly employees and identify and implement process optimization projects. Assist with the maintaining of the plant priorities including safety, sustainability, quality, and housekeeping. Lead shifts in daily production operators as required. Work with production supervisors and plant leadership to meet or exceed daily KPI’s. 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist management in ensuring that plant productivity, quality, and safety standards are met. 
  • Comply with safety policies, practices, and procedures in order to keep all employees safety and all products in quality condition. Report unsafe activities to supervisors. 
  • Ensure that all plant employees are responsible and accountable to maintain Glanbia GMP site standards which include FDA, OSHA, and California state standards. 
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives including centerlining, rate lock, root cause, and autonomous maintenance. 
  • Ensure that activities are performed effectively and respond to fluctuating workloads for all production lines 
  • Ensure work is performed properly the first time by reviewing the work throughout the production process 
  • Make certain that relief operator is providing breaks and meal periods in timely manner to production personnel for all production lines 
  • Coordinates production set ups including but not limited to equipment , raw materials, caps, sleeves, bottles, lot code verification, documentation, misc. supplies, QA check, maintenance items and personnel 
  • Always aware of batching and processing schedule 
  • Collaborate with co workers and supervisors to resolve work related problems 
  • Train and coach employees in work-related activities in associate with the supervisor 
  • Have knowledge of all machines on assigned production line 
  • Ensure breaks and meal periods are given to employees in a timely manner and as labor laws require 
  • Check product specification to ensure correct packaging materials and raw materials are being used and coding is correct 
  • Continually check products to ensure that they are within specifications and of high quality i.e. no leaks, proper and accurate lot numbers, ensure boxes and pallets have correct labeling and lot number information 
  • Perform machine change-overs as required 
  • Replenish packaging supplies such as film, boxes, cartons, glue, ink or labels 
  • Make adjustments to machine as necessary and observe to detect any malfunctions 
  • Clear away any damaged product containers 
  • Keep work area clean following HACCP program 
  • Perform cleaning and sanitation on machines as required between products 
  • Perform trouble shooting, minor repairs and communicate with mechanics regarding any mechanical problems 
  • Ensure that down time tracking and all lot information is completed accurately and in timely manner 
  • Have a constant awareness of production flow; upstream and down stream 
  • Hold a high degree of personal accountability and hold others to the same 

Education and/or Experience 

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) 
  • Minimum of two years of experience in food manufacturing environment or equivalent type of manufacturing 
  • Possess intermediate personal computing skills including e-mail, database maintenance, word processing, etc. 

Language Skills 

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations 

Mathematical Skills 

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measures, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals 
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to interpret graphs 

Reasoning Ability 

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple projects, and delegate as needed. 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions finished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
