Do you have a working knowledge of youth soccer, in addition to an understanding of coach and referee education?

The Des Moines Menace organization is searching for a Soccer Operations Manager who is responsible for the operations and marketing initiatives that drive the Menace Academy, Junior Menace, Menace Camps, and Menace Tournaments. This person plays an integral role in the organization’s mission to grow the game of soccer in our community. In addition, this role provides assistance to help further the overall success of the Menace men’s and women’s teams.

What you’ll do

  • Serve as a positive ambassador for the Menace, building relationships with administrators, coaches, participants, families, and fans.
  • Lead the Menace Academy (select soccer for U7-U19 boys and girls), with financial responsibility for the program.
  • Work with Menace Academy team managers and coaches to ensure a positive experience for participants and their families.
  • Assist in identifying development opportunities for Academy coaches and players.
  • Execute Academy tryouts, bids, acceptances, registrations, and team rosters.
  • Coordinate and communicate competition schedules and travel arrangements.
  • Work directly with coaches and staff to provide opportunities for Menace Academy participants to interact with players from the Menace’s men’s and women’s teams.
  • Lead the Menace’s affiliate programming and initiatives to grow soccer in local communities.
  • Schedule, promote, staff, and run the Junior Menace program (fall, winter and spring).
  • Schedule, promote, staff, and run the Menace’s summer camps and clinics.
  • Develop, coordinate, and lead all Menace tournaments, including staffing, marketing, operations, and customer service.
  • Manage all of the organization’s merchandise orders, including gear for players, coaches, and staff.
  • Coordinate and lead volunteers for tournaments and game days.
  • Organize and fulfill requests for player appearances, mascot appearances, and donations.
  • Lead and assist in strategic planning initiatives that support the short term and long term vision.
  • Provide leadership to interns and other staff members who will lend support to the role.
  • Other duties assigned by Des Moines Menace General Manager and Director of Operations.

Other key requirements

  • Two-plus years of experience with a youth soccer organization is preferred.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Sports Administration or Business is preferred.
