The Information Technology internships are part of a ten week summer professional internship program. The program will consist of a focused project in the subject area of the internship, working closely with a leader who will mentor you. The program includes a number of fun activities and professional development opportunities with the other summer interns. High preforming interns may be offered full-time positions post-graduation. Summer internships are located in West Des Moines, Iowa.

What you’ll do

Kum & Go will be seeking out strong students for two internship spots within the IT department; these two candidates will be matched with an IT project based on the skill set and personality of each individual. Projects options include:

  • Solutions Delivery – assist in three different process-related projects as the IT team transitions into the agile software development framework. These projects include Project Wiki (standardizing a wiki template for inflight and critical LOB applications), Application Logging (researching and recommending a framework for use in all projects – console, web, and mobile), and Application Alerts (cleaning up notifications to only those most important to the team).
  • Solutions Delivery – aide in designing and implementing a departmental style guide for all new software projects, expanding upon the corporate style guide and developing best practices for internal software UI controls.
  • Operations/Help Desk – support efforts in the implementation of Cherwell (our help desk software), with a specific responsibility of compiling a callbook to script out Level 1 common support responses.

You will be paid a competitive hourly rate for the internship. In addition, many interns may receive academic credit for their work through their college or university.

What we’re looking for

  • College Junior or Senior with an expected graduation date of December 2018 to May 2019
  • An interest in pursuing a career with Kum & Go post-graduation

Other key requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, Computer Engineering or other related majors
  • Excellent writing and communication skills • Passion for technology and solving problems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel; Word; PowerPoint; Outlook)
