A successful Finance Manager will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) in Accounting, Finance, or Business and four years of relevant experience; MBA preferred but not required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint with some knowledge of database basics (e.g. Microsoft Access, SQL) helpful
  • Well-developed oral and written presentation skills, with the ability to summarize complex concepts into understandable and easy-to-follow presentation materials
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts (statistics, probabilities, algebraic expressions, etc.)
  • Strong leadership skills and an ability to lead a team in a fast paced, high throughput environment
  • Excellent teamwork skills with ability to establish productive working relationships with other departments and personnel
  • High energy, positive attitude and the desire to learn

The DISH Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis team provides decision support to improve the business and drive corporate strategy.  The Corporate FP&A team is a small, nimble group that works closely with the CFO to cover all aspects of traditional FP&A functions as well as perform ad hoc analysis and due diligence support as needed. The Media Sales Finance Manger is responsible for managing a small team of analysts, reviewing their financial models, challenging their assumptions, prioritizing critical work, keeping the team focused, and supporting analysis work done by independent business units as well as working closely with the sales organizations in Denver, New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. Excellent communication skills and attention to detail are a necessity due to the pace of work and the amount of inter-departmental exposure.  Additionally, the right candidate will take ownership of the role, thrive in a high-volume and fast-paced environment, inspire others, and work to continually improve the performance of the team. Position may be based in Denver or New York.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Media Sales group in achieving their strategic goals by designing, maintaining and presenting budget, forecasting & KPI models. Suggest ideas to improve performance and collaborate with other departments within the company to ensure strategic alignment
  • Interpret financial data and communicate recommendations to department leadership and company executives. Develop financial analyses to seek out areas of concern and/or opportunities. Work with account executives and the pricing & inventory team to track progress and work towards achieving sales goals
  • Perform financial analysis, work independently and manage the workload of an analysts. Maintain the flexibility to switch between items of priority quickly while not losing sight of all tasks at hand
  • Organize and lead cross-functional meetings to gather data and present findings
  • Manage the incentive compensations for the Media Sales staff
  • Provide support to accounting and accounts payable for all things Media Sales; review monthly Billings/Payments
