As a Medical Technologist/Clinical Lab Scientist, you play a key role in supporting patient safety and high-quality clinical outcomes through precise specimen analysis, reporting and troubleshooting. Be part of a growing community hospital that has recently announced a strategic partnership with the University of Rochester Medical Center and St. Joseph's Health in Syracuse, N.Y. Through the partnership, St. Joseph's Health and URMC will support Auburn Community Hospital's primary care network while assisting the hospital with physician recruitment, quality improvement initiatives and patient safety. The relationship will also establish new services at ACH, including neurology, cancer care, orthopedics and cardiology. Responsibilities:• Perform precise specimen analysis and report results accurately, following established procedures• Recognize deviation from expected results, analyze and correct problems using scientific principles• Complete QC Action Logs, preventative maintenance logs and pending lists daily• Assist with training new personnel on responsibilities in the laboratory• Continuously assess work processes; making suggestions for improved work methods, ways to increase efficiency, reduce costs and solve operational problems• Monitor departmental reagent inventories• Perform a variety of chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests and procedures and related duties, to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease, following established standards and practices• Follow strict principles of asepsis and antisepsis in performing duties• Use proper techniques and equipment• Assemble supplies, equipment and work area• Perform tests and procedures as ordered & requisitioned, following outlines in procedure manuals• Identify and label all specimens received & collected• Record, report, post test results & findings as required• File, mail and / or call in reports• Perform quality control Qualifications:• Requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology• New York State License or License Eligible• Various shifts available 17 Lansing Street, Auburn, NY 13021315-255-7011 | AuburnHospital.orgAn Equal Opportunity & Affirmative Action Employer Finger Lakes Times.
