What's cool about this job

Here at the Co-op we believe that a life outdoors is a life well lived. We're looking for a Senior Digital Testing and Optimization Strategist to technically lead and champion a stand-alone testing program to help us develop a profound understanding of our customer's journey in preparing for and enjoying that outdoor life. If you're a curious and data savvy analyst/optimization specialist who understands how data is a language through which people tell you what they want, and variance is just a cool way of understanding that people have different needs, then we'd love to chat with you. We are seeking a detail-oriented yet creative mind who works collaboratively and effectively in a high-performance environment. This is an important role at the center of decision-making with significant business impact and opportunities to contribute to best-in-class testing and optimization practices in REI's Digital Division. Specifically, we are seeking someone who is able to set a strategic roadmap and work cross-divisionally. Someone who can identify the analytic and optimization testing needs that will best support a wide variety of business stakeholders to inform strategy, drive growth and profitability. To succeed, you need to be comfortable wearing multiple hats from overseeing test creation, data analysis, storytelling and dashboard visualization to developing business cases, workflow prioritization, and product performance evaluation. You are someone who is also comfortable getting under the hood bringing competence in developing and maintaining vendor relations, tool requirements, and implementation. Last but not least, you will be joining a customer-centric team; and thus, you too are an advocate of our customers bringing empathy and knowledge of our customers into your decision-making and program practices.

Overall duties & responsibilities to include:

* Champion and contribute to a small independent optimization testing team by planning, creating, executing, analyzing and archiving hypothesis-driven A|B and multivariate tests

* Develop, source, and vet testing ideas by partnering with digital business stakeholders and the digital insights team to understand customer needs and behaviors, opportunities and existing friction

* Consult and collaborate to influence search, content and personalization efforts making strategy recommendations and driving significant business impact

* As a resident expert, coach and advise other digital optimization efforts across the enterprise regarding best practices in testing and experimental design

* Create strategic road maps and test calendars articulating goals, test hypothesis, experimental framework, and timelines

* Support data literacy by educating the digital organization on the application of A|B and multivariate testing and its data

* Stay apprised of best practices in analysis, testing and optimization; utilizing them in your work and disseminating them across relevant teams

* Support developing new optimization and testing and/or analytics approaches and recommendations for new or enhanced technical tools

* Demonstrate strong understanding of business issues and operate using independent judgment with little oversight

Bring your passion and expertise

* 5+ years of experience demonstrating business impact in digital analytics and optimization roles

* 3+ years of experience conducting hypothesis-driven A|B or multivariate testing (Adobe Target highly preferred)

* 3+ years experience as a digital analyst; experience with eCommerce, mass merchant or retail environment highly preferred

* Experience with statistical software packages (e.g. SPSS, R, etc.)

* Experience with Agile development

* Experience making recommendations and presenting complex information to non-technical audiences

* Strong strategic and curious problem solver with excellent written and spoken communication skills

* Uses business knowledge, innovative thinking, and sound judgment in the solution of problems or the pursuit of business opportunities

* Consolidates information from various sources including feedback from others to reach sound decisions

* Considers the ultimate impact of decisions and actions on internal and external customers

* Experience with digital survey tools (Qualtrics highly preferred)

* BA/BS in a quantitative field, business, computer science, psychology or marketing-related major
