Job Description

Express Mart Convenience Stores, a leading convenience retailer in New York State, is seeking a full-time Co-Manager / Deli Manager.

Express Mart is a chain of convenience stores that is wholly owned and operated by Petr-All Petroleum Corporation. Petr-All Petroleum is a wholesale supply and distribution company of gasoline and diesel fuel. Express Mart was created as a way to better serve our guests by not just offering gasoline but, all convenience needs. Since then, Express Mart has grown to over 75 + retail outlets throughout Upstate New York as well as several franchise locations.

A Deli Co-Manager is responsible for providing the best buying experience to all guests, generating sales, housekeeping, merchandising, signage, pricing, cash register operations (POS) and loss prevention in accordance with all company policies/procedures and store standards.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Ensure that each guest receives the best buying experience by providing fast, friendly full service in an environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every guest, maintain outstanding company standards in all areas including housekeeping, solid product knowledge and all other components of guest service.

· Follow weekly schedule as posted, procedures regarding time clock (clock in & out) and store operation hours at all times, unless a change is approved by management.

· Adhere to company policy and procedures as well as state regulations regarding age restricted products.

· Maintain awareness of all product knowledge, merchandise promotions and advertisements.

· Operate shift in accordance with company policies/procedures by performing all assigned tasks. Be familiar with company price book and operations manual.

· Work with other employees as a member of a team.

· Follow local health regulations and Express Mart policies pertaining to food handling.

· Accurately post markups and markdowns, store use of merchandise, voids, no sales, bottle refunds, bad merchandise write offs, unknown UPC’s, price overrides, within established policies and procedures.

· Follow vendor check in procedures as defined in the operations manual.

· Clean and maintain equipment and ensure high margin products (coffee, fountain drinks, deli, etc.) are available at all times.

· Knowledgeable in our guest needs and utilize up selling to increase sales.

· Check refrigeration equipment for proper performance (minimum once per shift) and advise management of any problems.

· Understand all cash handling procedures, including register breakdown, drawer dollar limit and safe accountability.

· Understand credit card and debit card handling, limits and fraud potential.

· Responsible for ordering all Deli Product.

· Read all expiration dates and codes on all product.

· Know how to utilize PDI Scanning Manual, Credit Card Manual, Maintenance Manual and place work orders on Web Help Desk.

· Responsible for all Deli audits.

· Assist in training new Level I Sales Associates.

· Handle guest complaints when Store Manager is not on duty.

· Make shelf tags, receiving with Handheld and assist with planogram revisions.

· Assist Store Manager with Cashier Trends, Marketing books and Weekly Summary Reports.

· Receive and send E-mails.

· Teach and reinforce Express Mart Credos.

· Ability to work 32+ hours.

QUALIFICATIONS, REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

· High school diploma or GED required with prior retail experience.

· Ability to work scheduled shifts (holidays & weekends).

· Ability to stand for long periods of time servicing guests.

· Ability to read, speak and communicate the English language.

· Ability to count and write to accurately complete all documentation.

· Ability to operate & use all equipment necessary to run the store.

· Ability to move or handle merchandise throughout the store generally weighing between 0-50 pounds.

· Ability to climb a ladder.

· Tasks are performed inside the store and outside in all areas of the facility. Including exposure to cold while working in the cooler and on the exterior of the building maintaining the parking lot and all surrounding areas with in the parking lot.
