Description • Plans menus in accordance with client needs and preferences, as well as to control costs, limit waste and spoilage, and ensure effective utilization of food items.
- Responsible for organizing and overseeing work of lower-classified personnel and assigned clients engaged in preparing and serving meals, and cleaning kitchen equipment and work areas. Provides training, completes work schedules and assignments, monitors
- Reviews menus and ensures all items are prepared in accordance with established meal schedules, recipes and standards including taste, temperature, appearance, and special diets. Ensures food preparation and handling is carried out according to established
- Regularly performs food preparation, cooking, and serving duties which includes utilizing variety of kitchen utensils and equipment, measuring and combining ingredients, cooking assigned menu items according to recipes, inspecting and tasting food, and portioning
- Responsible for ensuring kitchen work, storage, and serving areas are clean, sanitary and orderly. Performs, or oversees others engaged in, kitchen sanitation tasks including washing and cleaning utensils and equipment. Ensures kitchen equipment is operational
- Orders food items and kitchen supplies in accordance with established budget from approved vendors, and ensures food items required for planned menus are on hand. Ensures proper inventory control by monitoring requisition logs and utilization, and ensuring
- Maintains area records and logs, such as time worked, food requisitions, meals served, equipment maintenance, inventory levels, and so forth. Completes required surveys and forms related to meals served, and health and safety standards and regulations.
- Maintains cooperative working relationships with program managers and professionals in order to gather and exchange information on client preferences and needs. May participate in management or staff meetings as necessary to evaluate program contributions,
- Assists in planning budgets for assigned areas which includes estimating operating expenses, obtaining information on projected costs of food items and food production equipment, completing meal projections, and so forth. Compares actual and budgeted expenses,
- May operate vehicle to pick up or deliver food items and supplies.
Requirements • High school diploma or equivalency required

- Minimum of 6 months of training or equivalent knowledge of substance abuse treatment theory and practices
- Previous work experience with an adult population in a residential or outpatient setting is preferred
- Must be able to respectfully interact with substance abuse clients and form a working therapeutic alliance
- Valid driver’s license in state of residence and good driving record required
