What you will do:

The Staff Accountant works with all aspects of accounting to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of the Company’s financial records. The position must work with extreme confidentiality to protect the privacy of the organization.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare and review monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, accruals, and other necessary adjusting journal entries
  • Ensure timely and accurate posting of revenue to accounting systems
  • Responsible for gift card and loyalty accounting, specifically, reconciliations, deferred revenue, recording of breakage, and program administration.
  • Manage and review accounts receivables related to franchisees and third-party vendors
  • Assist with implementation and administration of new financial systems
  • Research store and corporate accounting issues
  • Assist in monitoring, evaluating and improving corporate accounting policy, procedures and systems
  • Guide other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy; applying observations and recommendations to operational issues
  • Assist in preparing interim and year-end schedules for external audits
  • Perform Ad hoc reporting and projects and special projects, as necessary

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required
  • CPA is a plus

Experience:

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in accounting related field is required
  • Multi-unit restaurant/retail is preferred
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office, with strong knowledge of Excel
  • Strong knowledge of internal controls and experience in implementing process improvement initiatives

Competencies:

  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments to meet deadlines
  • Willingness to travel to locations or vendor sites, as necessary (less than 10% travel)
  • Must be a critical thinker

  • Internally motivated to seek out answers, generate ideas, and develop new skills.

Working Conditions:

  •  Work is performed primarily in an office setting
  •  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see
  •  Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time
  •  Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 10 pounds) during the course of the workday
