JOB SUMMARY
 

Manages initiatives to improve the iT operating model, delivering on-time, within budget, while meeting Marriott’s expectations.  Plans, directs, and coordinates activities related to organizational improvement.  Governs, evolves and implements enabling processes to support iT and Marriott operational performance.  Works closely with the other areas of iT Technology Business Management and across iT to implement and monitor consistent, effective and efficient practices. 

 
CANDIDATE PROFILE
 
Education and Experience
 
Required:
  • 10+ years’ relevant experience in business and IT operations.
 
Preferred:
  • 5+ years’ experience in information technology project management across diverse application areas.
  • 2+ years’ experience in leading or developing change initiatives in a business or IT organization.
  • Graduate degree.
  • PMP certification.
  • Solid knowledge of the Systems Development Lifecycle (Waterfall, Agile).
  • Working knowledge of current IT technologies across a wide variety of areas.
  • Experience with development and management of process standards in an outsourced environment.
  • Experience in establishing or managing governance processes, structures or tools for a technology organization.
  • Adept at conducting research into process and governance best practices, models, and methodologies.
  • Strong negotiating, influencing and problem resolution skills.
  • Strong budget management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent listening skills and interpersonal skills.

Managing Initiatives to Improve iT Operational Performance

  • Using assessments and stakeholder input, evaluates improvement opportunities and identifies creative solutions, analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of alternatives, and provides recommendations.
  • Plans projects, including cost, schedule, resourcing and deliverables.
  • Interfaces with Marriott stakeholders for requirements, prioritization, and rationalization.
  • Facilitates business requirements analysis and functional design work sessions including creating business presentations, communications, and documentation.

  • Builds and maintains a standard set of iT Governance processes and tools that will provide the right level of governance for all iT teams and that will promote client satisfaction.
  • Supports the development of behavioral change management, communications and training as needed to drive process and tool adoption, implementation and compliance.
  • Tracks status of key milestones in the adoption of new or improved processes and tools.
  • Monitors Marriott and service provider(s) adherence to the defined IT Standards.
  • Communicates important process changes that affect service provider and/or client operations.
  • Defines, manages, and improves iT performance reporting across the enterprise.
  • Maintains and facilitates compliance with defined iT Governance decision rights, standards and practices.
