JOB SUMMARY
 

This position is responsible for the primary24x7x365 support, maintenance and system availability of the zOS mainframe platform which run business critical Production, Test and Development application systems within this environment. These include but are not limited to REWARDS, OneYield, MarrPay, CTAC, MRDW and MMRS systems. Responsible for line management, task management, technical direction and overall Service Level accountabilities for the entire z/OS mainframe infrastructure.

 

Provides technical leadership and supports the technical architects in performing research, analysis and design of technical solutions. Responsible for technical software product installation, maintenance and performance tuning. Provide technical leadership and mentoring for other members of the mainframe services support team. Supports the technical architects in performing research, analysis and design of technical solutions to meet current and future user requirements.  Responsible for technical software product installation, maintenance and performance tuning.  Supports the capacity planning analysis and reporting on computing systems for procurement planning and performance monitoring.  Leads efforts to implement technical solutions from the design specifications.  May have development and quality control responsibilities for application technical design and implementation and system conversion.  Have larger-sized project responsibilities in all or some of the following areas: project planning, work plan development and staffing needs. Leads workgroups and/or functions as a technical

Education and Experience
 
Required:
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience/certification
  • 8 + years’ experience in zOS and related mainframe technology
  • 5 years experience in 24x7x365 Operational support of Mainframe systems
 
Preferred:
  • Graduate degree
  • Technical certifications
  • Technical leadership experience in a sourced environment
 
 
 

Provide input, design, development and implementation strategies and initiatives for the future maintenance of a world class zOS System to maintain Marriott International’s competitive advantage.

 

Provide leadership, oversight, governance and strategic direction related to the infrastructure services that are required to enable the delivery of zOS mainframe services. Participate in efforts on researching, designing, documenting and implementing infrastructure components that are standards based, high performance, highly available and secure delivering the required business functionality.  This individual is also responsible to help educate internal and external users of the technologies to continually improve the knowledge and skill-base of the organization on how best to operate and support the infrastructure services.

 
  • Understand the business and customer needs to introduce solutions that grow the bottom line and/or speed time to market.
  • Provide Documents with a focus on how infrastructure services will be leveraged in the solution architecture.
  • Participate in the evaluation and selection of infrastructure services products.
  • Work closely with the enterprise architect to support alignment of plans with what is being delivered.
  • Support governance based on best practices and ensure proper alignment to projects and major initiatives
  • Lead analysis of the current environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement.
  • Lead analysis of technology industry and market trends to determine their potential impact on the infrastructure architecture.
  • Support Solution and Domain Architecture by providing current environment status in terms of technology, software and infrastructure for projects in the delivery life cycle
  • Utilize capability modeling to align systems strategy and planning with business strategy and goals.
  • Promote the benefits of infrastructure services to the organization educate the team on infrastructure concepts.
  • Consult with project teams to identify when it is necessary to modify infrastructure services to accommodate project needs.

  • Ensures proper coordination with appropriate IT and vendor relations teams

  •  Ensures early warning to the business stakeholder executives regarding degraded or missed service levels

  • Follows all defined IT standards and processes (i.e. IT Governance, SM&G, Architecture, etc.), and provides input for improvements to the appropriate process owners as needed
