Job Summary

The Organizational Capability (OC) COE is responsible for building business capabilities in the areas of organizational and process design, talent activation, team effectiveness and change/deployment management. The OC COE is focused broadly on strengthening the alignment between business priorities and organizational strategy (structure, processes, systems, talent, change, culture, etc.). Through specific expertise in these efforts, the OC COE works to ensure Marriott International (MI) optimizes its return on human capital investments through a high performing organization. The primary “clients” of the OC department are Senior HR Generalists and Senior Business Leaders across the enterprise.

 

As a member of the Organizational Capability COE, the Director, Change Management & Organizational Capability plays a multi-faceted role leading projects across change management while also supporting organizational effectiveness efforts. This position is a member of the HR Change Management team that delivers against discipline specific initiatives, while partnering closely with HR Communications and L+D to design holistic client solutions. The primary focus will be on creating and implementing change management strategies and plans that minimize business risk, shape the employee experience, and maximize engagement among key stakeholders. Key outcomes include accelerated adoption of change and higher proficiency on the changes impacting associates in the organization such that business results are achieved.


Expected Contributions 

Leadership Responsibilities Include:
  • Manage senior level clients/stakeholders across multiple disciplines to translate business needs into change and organizational implications
  • Design and develop complex change management and deployment strategies to guide efforts and provide foundational change approach for initiative specific change plans
  • Lead joint HR projects and initiatives with other members of the Organizational Capability and Change Management teams as assigned by the Sr. Director, Change Management & Organizational Capability
Change Management Delivery Responsibilities:
  • Consult as a trusted advisor, developing methods, tools, and templates for project teams on change management best practices, management concepts and approaches
  • Develop change strategies in conjunction with other members of the COE and/or other Enterprise CM practitioners
  • Identify and resolve issues and risks, provide timely updates to leadership, facilitate meetings and reviews, and work collaboratively across the organization to produce effective results
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders who have accountability for program or initiative execution
  • Manage execution and apply a structured approach and methodology to change management efforts; ensuring implementations are consistent in process, tools, and services
  • Conduct impact analysis and stakeholder assessments to determine CM needs and implications
  • Provides analysis and guidance to the design, development, and delivery of learning programs, training, and support materials
  • Identify potential risks and anticipate points of resistance
  • Serve as a thought leader within the HR Organizational Capability group, including developing and implementing high quality work products and services that provide strategic business value
  • Create performance measures to track adoption, utilization and proficiency of individual changes

Additional Responsibilities (Inclusive of Organizational Effectiveness):

  • Contribute to the suite of best in class tools to simplify and enhance the change management and deployment lifecycle
  • Contribute and apply lessons learned and best practices to improve change management and implementation processes
  • Develop communications strategies, plans, and materials as required in support of projects
  • As needed, act as an organizational subject matter expert, including developing and implementing high quality, cost-effective organizational effectiveness products, programs and services
  • Seek opportunities to leverage knowledge, resources and work activities across the OC COE and other MI departments/divisions
  • Supports other duties and requests by manager as needed
Candidate Profile
Experience:
  • Minimum of eight years of experience in supporting or leading change management, as well as exposure to organizational effectiveness and process design engagements
  • Experience managing the change associated with complex, global systems implementation
  • Experience consulting to business leaders, providing communication and change management support
  • Demonstrated success working in a complex, service-intensive, and deadline-driven environment
  • Skilled at managing across projects and partnering on multi-faceted deployment programs
  • Experience developing and presenting, impactful presentations that convey results/recommendations to senior-level leaders
  • Ability to work with and influence a wide range of cross-functional work teams and leaders within a matrix organization
  • Consulting experience on human capital programs preferred
  • Hospitality industry experience a plus

Education or Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Graduate degree, MS/MBA (or equivalent) in Organizational Development, Human Resources, Business Management, Psychology, or Related Field preferred
