LOOKING FOR A PURCHASING MANAGER to join the supply chain team of an organization specializing in the design, manufacture, and sales of consumer products.

The Purchasing Manager will be seen as the "go-to" leader for the purchasing department and will oversee a team of 6-8 buyers. Should have:

  • a minimum of 5-7 years of supply chain management experience
  • Proficient and successful in cost reduction
  • Experience with global sourcing and strategic sourcing processes

Typical job responsibilities of the Purchasing Manager:

- Coordinating activities of personnel engaged in purchasing and distributing materials, and supplies across the organization.

- Supervising the work of buyers in the purchasing department who are responsible for the purchase of materials and supplies.

- Stay informed on economic, industrial and other trends that affect markets and prices.
- Plans, organizes, directs, and controls activities related to the procurement function.
- Ensures compliance with instructions regarding purchasing systems and procedures.
- Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability, and prepares market analysis reports.
- Uses skill of strategic sourcing and global sourcing to ensure the development of the lowest total cost value chains are developed.
- Ensure proper department execution to evaluate vendor quotations that utilizes appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery, and service.
- Designs, implements, manages, and monitors procurement reporting systems, such as inventory, spend, financial forecasting, to meet company requirements.
- Finds, develops and maintains suppliers that provide high quality products and services at a better price while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct.

- Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
- Prepares and reviews contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for legal correctness, price, and acceptability of items to specifications.
- Manage the organization and project management of the departments cost reduction activities
- Oversees all activities related to procurement of a commodity, from intent to purchase through delivery of commodity.
- Assigns procurement requests to the appropriate personnel.
- Negotiates or supervises the negotiation of complex requests for equipment, supplies, and services from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Develops and installs clerical and office procedures and practices, and studies work flow, sequence of operations, and office arrangement to determine expediency of installing new or improved office machines.
- Arranges for disposal of surplus materials.
