About this job

Responsibilities:
Clear storm water infrastructure
Clear drains of debris
Remove invasive species
Basic plumbing
Report writing
Use hand shovels, hack hoes
Repair storm-water infrastructure
Detention and retention basins
Take water samples near water treatment facilities as part of the facilities maintenance.
Operate skid loader, mini excavator
Patch concrete
Record data on a tablet.
Respond to job site requests on an as-need basis

Work Environment: Working in partnership with public and private sector clients, provide services in variety of industries - schools, facilities, retail customers such as Walmart doing maintenance and testing for water, land, air.

Retail Big-box stores - commercial.
no sneakers, must have work boots. Steel toe boots not required
Hard hats not required; if so, Apex will provide
Apex will provide safety glasses, as needed
Suggest laborer's bring/wear hats and sunscreen to protect against sun because about ½ of the work is outside

Must be comfortable with ipad, or tablet. any type of technology.
Mostly field work; however, one day a week they will be expected to go to the office for time keeping and expenses.
Work in teams of 2 people.

Travel: Leave Monday morning at 6:30/7am and return Thursday afternoon or Friday morning. Do paperwork on Friday. Occasionally 50-60 hours a week. Working 40-50 hours a week. Traveling mostly Missouri.

Qualifications: 2 years of light construction/labor
Knows how to operate mechanical equipment (zero turn commercial, trimmers, equipment, tractor, skid loader, excavator, skid loader...for example)
Experience driving a pickup/trailer
Ability to lift 60 lbs.

Performance Expectations: Typical day will be to travel to and from job sites, performing maintenance and inspections of stormwater management systems. team player. independent worker.

1st Day: They will do a safety orientation on their first day. The first week they will shadow hands-on and on simulation sites in the field with another technician.

Best vs. Avg:
BEST: someone who has storm water or utility experience. herbicide application certification and/or confined space, OSHA 40, HAZWOPPER
Avg: Landscaping, hardscape,agricultural, farm or concrete work is a good fit too. Concrete experience, erosion control, sediment and vegetation control, carpentry and plumbing.

Performance Metrics: this person will report to and work directly with their crew leader. Performance based off of ability to take directions, work efficiently and do a quality job. Safety first.
