POSITION SUMMARY
Helps provide and supervise patient care provided in the Cath Holding, performs or assists with all sheath removals and transport of all patients. Assists in training and competency testing, works with Coordinator, Charge Tech and physicians in coordination of patient care and department function, and in formulating policy and procedure protocols. Acts as liaison between unit and Nursing Services to assist in maintaining effective knowledge of nursing care practices that may be utilized in the Cath Holding Area. Teaches and validates documentation of patient care, computer data input, quality assurance and improvement programs. Cross-trains to the Cath Lab and assists in the Lab as needed. Participation in call coverage required. Participates in departmental research/evaluation programs.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
1. Registered Nurse, Virginia licensure.
2. BCLS required.
3. ACLS and IABP certification required within six months of hire date.
4. Effective ECG and Hemodynamics recognition and interpretation required.
5. Previous Cath Lab or Cath Holding experience (minimum one year) preferred; otherwise,
6. Minimum two years MICU, CICU or Emergency Department experience with Critical Care certification preferred.
An essential function of this position is to comply with BSHSI Policy (SYS.HR.NUR.001) which requires, as a condition of employment, that all registered nurses with diplomas or associate degrees who apply and are hired after May 1, 2015 complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree within five years of start date.
