Under the supervision of the section supervisor, the medical technologist performs generalized and specialized assignments or functions in clinical laboratory technology. The position is primarily responsible for evaluation, correlation, monitoring and reporting of the results of an examination of biological specimens for the purpose of obtaining scientific data, for all age groups including newborns, infants, toddlers, pediatric patients, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients, which is used to determine the presence, progress and source of disease or physiological condition in a human being.
Serving Merced County Westside area with 48 care beds, the facility is part of Memorial Hospitals Association and Sutter Health, a not-for-profit organization that exists to maintain and improve the health status of citizens in its geographic area. Memorial Hospital Los Banos provides and promotes effective inpatient and outpatient health care services including 24-hour Emergency Care, Rural Health Clinic, Surgery, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Diagnostics Imaging, and Intensive Care Unit and Physical Therapy.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, related field, or equivalent.
* Must possess a valid California Clinical Laboratory license.
* Minimum one year experience as a technologist in a clinical laboratory in an acute care facility.
* Must have a minimum of 6 months computer experience.
* Must demonstrate technical skills in all areas of the general laboratory.
* Ability to manage own time and schedule own tasks.
* Must have initiative to work efficiently without constant supervision and direction. Ability to read, write, hear and communicate in English to the degree necessary to perform the job.
* Must be able to travel in and out of Merced County, including transcontinental.
* Must be able to travel, pick up or deliver when relevant to job activity.
* If Memorial Hospital Los Banos business, must possess valid California driver's license and upon request, provide proof of liability insurance.
Preferred Qualifications:
* ASCP certification desirable.
