Description: Under general supervision: creates, manipulates, enhances, stores/records analog and digital radiographic images that visualize areas of interest involved in diagnostic and interventional cardio-vascular procedures and examinations; performs a variety of technical and supportive patient care tasks.

Essential Responsibilities:

Upholds Kaiser Permanente's Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities and applicable state, federal and local laws.

Direct patient Care and Procedural Activites: Patient Education - Explains test procedures and purpose.

Patient Preparation - Prepares patients for Cardiovascular Diagnostic and Interventional procedures to include: assess site, sterile field, and monitoring device(s) preparation.

Procedural Assistance - Assists physician in adult and pediatric Cardiovascular radiographic procedures and exams including: to include: Diagnostic Procedures and Imaging: Scrub, circulate, device prep (i.e. catheter) Right and Left heart Catheterization, Angiograms, Myocardial, Biopsy, Intravascular Ultrasound, Flowire, Interventional Procedures, and Imaging. Scrub, circulate, device prep (I.e. balloon, stent, rotablator) Angioplasty, Stenting Atherectomy Valvuloplasty Septostomy Embolization.

Patient Monitoring - Hymodynamic and patient monitoring Emergency Response - Responds and assists in STAT request, emergencies and Code Blue situations.

Indirect Patient Care and Procedural Activities: Policy and Procedures - Understands and complies with Regulatory, Hospital and Departmental policy, procedure and/or regulation.

Safety - Complies with Radiation, Safety and Infection Control guidelines.

Maintains a clean working environment.

Proper disposal of specimen and/or waste material.

Notification to immediate supervisor (or designee) of non or miss-functioning items.

Quality Control - Performs radiographic sensitomtery and dosimtery measurements to ensure proper settings.

Image Processing - Maintains processor and chemicals, develop cine film, performs digital image processing.

Patient Transportation - Transports patients to and from procedure areas.

Specimen Preparation - Assists in obtaining and preparing samples and specimens for lab analysis.

Inventory Control - Restocks working areas with supplies, devices and equipment.

Notification to immediate supervisor (or designee) upon reaching inventory par levels.

Documentation - Completes documentation of records, logs, files, and forms.

Data Integrity - Performs accurate measurements and calculations on related radiographic and patient data.

Quality Management - Participates in QM data collection as requested.

Reporting - Notification of variances to immediate supervisor.

Orientation and Training - Provides orientation and training to new and/or less experiences personnel.

Meeting and In-services - Participates in Hospital and departmental meetings and in-services as required.

Licenses and Certifications - Maintains current and required licensure and certificates.

Resource and Communication - Serves as a resource person to co-workers, problem solves and effectively communicates.

Perform other related duties as required.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

N/A.

Education

Graduation from an accredited educational program in Diagnostic Radiologic Technology approved by the American Medical Association and the American College of Radiology;

Completion of a formal or in-house training program in radiographic special procedures and cardio-vascular procedures/exams.

License, Certification, Registration

Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) by the State of California, Department of Health Services

Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-CV or registry eligible)

Fluoroscopy Permit issued by the State of California.

Valid ACLS card.

Additional Requirements:

Ability to demonstrate knowledge of and to utilize the principles, theories, practices and techniques of radiological technology including special procedures.

Radiologic technology special procedures experience.

Cardiac Cath Lab experience (Cardiac Cath Lab experience may be at the discretion of the department).

Preferred Qualifications:

Must have one year prior Cardiac Cath Lab Experience to include hemodynamic monitoring, and scrubbing for diagnostic and interventional cases.

ACLS, BLS required.

PALS required within 6 months of hire.

RCIS certification preferred.

Cross trainingfrom Electrophysiology is required.

Rotating weekends

Back up 8 hour shift is 11:00am-9:00pm
