Woodshop Technicians Needed - Full-time / Part-time

Aerotek is currently looking to hire a Woodshop Technician for a office furniture company in New Castle, DE. Qualified candidates must have wood and power saw experience.

This is a 4 month contract-to-hire position offering a competitive pay rate.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintains an assigned schedule.
• Maintain work space and clean up the machine and work area including dust and cutoffs
• Assists with the organization of cut sheets and analyzing part requirements to minimize waste and increase output using proper utilization of cut off waste. Acceptable waste factor is less than 10%
• Manage output to meet assigned deadlines and communicate any and all delays to supervisor
• Ensure proper quantities are delivered to next phase of assembly
• Ensure proper sizing, grain direction, and hole locations are achieved
• Monitor the operating machine at all times
• Produce or assemble components of articles, such as store fixtures, office equipment, cabinets, or high-grade furniture.
• Verify dimensions or check the quality or fit of pieces to ensure adherence to specifications.
• Will use hand and power tools
• Reinforce joints with nails or other fasteners to prepare articles for finishing.
• Attach parts or sub assemblies together to form completed units, using glue, dowels, nails, screws, or clamps.
• Assist with the specifications of articles to be constructed or repaired or plan the methods or operations for shaping or assembling parts, based on blueprints, drawings, diagrams, or oral or written instructions.
• Cut timber to the right size and shape and trim parts of joints to ensure a snug fit, using hand tools, such as planes, chisels, or wood files.
• Trim, sand, or scrape surfaces or joints to prepare articles for finishing

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1-2 years of shop experience

MUST HAVES

• High School Diploma or GED
• Must have technical skills to proficiently run shop equipment like table saw, routers, and skill saw.
• Must be detail-oriented and capable of working on multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Must be dependable and have a positive attitude & commitment for success.
• Must have effective communication skills.
• Must have excellent attendance and work principles
