Aerotek is currently seeking qualified Electrical Engineers for a federal utility in Vancouver, WA. Holiday & Vacation is provided.

This full-time contract Electrical Engineer position will work within the TEST Group which serves under Substation Engineering. High voltage laboratory engineers perform electrical tests on transmission power system equipment. This Level 1 Electrical Engineer will follow an established set of specifications and guidelines to complete testing. Tests are performed at the Ross Complex (Vancouver, WA) and in field locations throughout BPA system. Nights and weekend work may be necessary during system emergency and outage constraints.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering from an ABET certified college is required.
  • Related Experience - a minimum combination of work-related experience or on-the-job training is required. Experience should be consistent with the specific requirements of electrical engineering and progressively more technical in nature.
    • Minimum Related Experience: This is a Level 1 position - ½ to 4 years previous work-related experience and knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, principles and practices is required.
  • Work-related experience applicable to components and facilities found on a regional transmission system is desirable.
  • 1+ years experience using and creating LabView virtual instruments (VI's) is highly desirable
  • 1+ years practical experience in applying non-traditional power system technology in solving power system testing challenges is highly desirable
  • Excellent safety record working around high voltage environment is highly desirable
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; MS Office proficiency required.

Technical Requirements:

  • Maintain current knowledge of developments in scientific disciplines applicable to current and future testing applications
  • Keep abreast of the latest testing development for testing power transmission system components and for diagnostic testing of power equipment
  • Understand and follow established processes and procedures including Change Management, Work Tracking and Time Management
