Media Relations Associate - Full-time / Part-time

Our work involves the full range of organizational development services, including creative planning; new program/product research; writing; management of client communications, promotions, and public relations; and relationship building and maintenance.

Reingold is seeking an ambitious self-starter to join our team of media relations specialists. Specific duties may include:

Writing

• Writing in multiple styles and voices, including journalistic, promotional, and executive/corporate, for a variety of audiences
• Drafting and editing communications materials, including strategic plans, analyses and monitoring reports, news releases, media pitches and alerts, fact sheets, talking points, blog posts, and executive briefings

Earned Media and Public Relations

• Pitching reporters, editors, and others in media
• Managing media relationships, story placement, and online distribution of materials
• Building and managing media databases
• Conducting landscape analyses, competitive analyses, and media audits
• Producing weekly or monthly clip reports for clients

Project Management General Consulting

• Providing input to project managers and executive leaders
• Developing creative solutions to client issues
• Managing multiple accounts, and serving as the client point of contact or in a supporting role
• Anticipating, identifying, and resolving problems that threaten timelines, budgets, and/or completion of key projects and client deliverables
• Ushering all materials through internal Reingold processes (creative, editorial, events, social media, user experience, web, etc.)

Minimum qualifications include:

• Bachelors degree, preferably in communications, journalism, public relations, or related field
• 2 to 5 years experience working in one or more of the following or similar settings: communications agency, newsroom, press office, on the Hill
• Understanding of the news cycle and news hooks
• Strong public speaking skills
• Demonstrated ability to use metrics to inform strategy
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables

The following are preferred qualifications for this position:

• Experience in crisis communications and/or event planning
• Knowledge of Meltwater, PR Newswire, MailChimp, Workamajig, and/or Jira
