Independent Living Specialist

PromiseShip is currently seeking an Independent Living Specialist to work closely with PromiseShip teams to offer support and increase skills for young people who are currently in the foster care system so they can be self-sufficient. The person in this position will:
  • Implement and monitor the established Independent Living Program
  • Organize and facilitate team meetings focused on safety, permanency, and well-being
  • Provide monthly progress summaries and document in NFOCUS
  • Conduct face to face visits with young adults
  • Connect youth and families to informal and community supports to address their identified needs
  • Collaborate with agency providers to ensure that quality services are being provided to children, youth, and families
  • Work with youth to complete surveys and assessments to understand training and support needs
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field and two years’ case management experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with formal and informal services within Douglas and Sarpy Counties.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, solid administrative and organizations skills and a willingness to work non-traditional hours, as needed, to meet the needs of young adults.
  • A strong working knowledge of independent living skills and resources strongly preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record, the ability to provide own transportation and have a valid auto liability insurance policy.
