Job Description:


The University at Albany, Division of ITS, Enterprise Application Services, is seeking highly-qualified candidates to fill the role of Solution Specialist for Academic Administration.

The Solution Specialist for Academic Administration will act as a subject matter lead for the systems and related services used at UAlbany that enable enrollment and academic administrative business processes. This position is responsible for employing technical and functional skills and experience to ensure the reliability, availability and maintainability of one or more systems. The Solution Specialist is involved with the design in support of the build/configuration and operational maintenance of systems in this portfolio.

Duties and responsibilities
  • Support administration of applications within scope through the entire solution life-cycle:
    • Strategy - Design - Transition - Operation - Continuous Improvement
  • Provide day-to-day applications operational support including quality control activities, data management, integration, and subject matter expertise to interested internal and external resources on functionality and integration
  • Work on items within a defined queue of service requests, incidents, and problems for applications within scope (service offering operation)
  • Configure applications to meet defined business needs
  • Support solutions within scope focusing on services to be consumed across the University-wide portfolio of applications including providing:
    • Knowledge of data for analytics and business intelligence/data warehousing integration
    • "How-to" training on the use of the applications within varying business processes
  • Maintain the business processes and functional designs within scope
  • Build customizations and configurations that ensure propagation to upgraded environments


Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related area from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized organization
  • Two years of applicable programming experience
  • Ability to formulate programming code in more than one programming language
  • Ability to write and review/execute SQL statements
  • Demonstrated experience working with relational databases
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot applications
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse populations
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One year of recent, prior experience in the Higher Education industry
  • One year of development experience in any PeopleSoft Solution
  • Experience working in UNIX/Linux environment
  • Experience developing HTML, XML and XSLT
