Job Description

The Director of Data Governance will establish and execute a vision/strategy for the delivery and support of customer data governance function in support of the Consumer Data Strategy. This position is part of the centralized organization to be established within Corporate Information Services. The leader is responsible for establishing an organizational approach to data governance by building the appropriate data management solutions and processes. This role is global in scope providing functional accountability for all aspects of consumer data including data standards, data quality, data governance processes, and data management solution components. And will ensure alignment of the global data governance processes and standards with applicable regional or satellite functional organizations.
  • Establish the data governance strategy and build a centralized function to meet the needs of all business stakeholders, provide oversight for data management capabilities, and support the data science and analytics functions.
  • Provide technical and management leadership for both the central and the satellite organizations toward establishing and maintaining domain level acceptance of global data design and process standards.
  • Provide oversight for creating and maintaining global data standards based on strategic business objectives and analytical requirements.
  • Guides and champions the organization’s data management processes and programs related to global data within the organization.
  • Partner with the Data Science organization to build capabilities required for data management and advanced analytical (big data, ML, AI) needs.
  • Scan the market to bring the right technologies and tools to provide insights for data driven decision-making for the enterprise.
  • Create and establish a global data governance framework which includes overall definition and domain-specific business requirements, supporting the operational landscape for consumer data.
  • Actively drive the selection and implementation of data management tools, processes, and organizational capabilities including working with third-party data management providers.
  • Establish global data standards and actively drive adoption of data standards and policies within various business units.
  • Collaborates with the IT Architecture group to define a robust, scalable data architecture that aligns with the business objectives of the organization and adequately supports the organizational needs.
  • Provide strategic leadership toward the development of a data management solution, capability roadmaps, business alignment, data processes, data policy management, data architecture, data quality, and data integration.
  • Monitors and incorporates regulatory, compliance and other external requirements (e.g. GDPR, PCI etc.).
  • Provide leadership and partner with the enterprise data management organization to in the harmonizing of data policies, standards, and processes.
Leadership Skills and Experience:
  • Ability to work independently to drive the strategy and vision to fruition.
  • Proven supervisory leadership skills, setting objectives, managing performance, coaching, and feedback.
  • Experience establishing a data governance function within a large enterprise
  • Experience working with an international organization, including multi-country or global implementation experience.
  • Excellent interdependent partnering skills
  • Able to manage complexity, project management experience, ability to navigate technology and organizational issues to complete project tasks
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to persuade and influence others at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment and manage day-to-day operational support activities along with major initiatives.
Technology Skills and Experience:
  • Global Data Management experience (either in ERP or a Data Analytics platform)
  • Basic understanding of traditional OLAP/OLTP systems as well as the Big Data technologies.
  • Managing data with a wide variety of data applications including marketing data, web analytics, streaming analytics, IoT, mobile apps etc.
  • Knowledge of the key concepts around data policy management, data standards, data quality, and data governance processes and methodologies.
  • 10 - 12 years of relevant professional, technical, and leadership experience
Education:
  • Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in business, operations, IT, or comparable field
