Job Purpose Statement

At New Penn, safety and service quality are utmost importance. The Central Dispatch Supervisor has direct responsibility to supervise and coordinate all activities for linehaul operations and drivers. This position is responsible for the safe execution of operational plans and strategies to ensure timely, damage-free, and delivery/pick-up of freight. This position is responsible for managing employee relations which also includes; coaching and counseling, and oversight of production and/or processes.

The Supervisor manages the activities of road drivers to maximize effective utilization of resources and to ensure customer satisfaction. This position reports to the Manager – Central Dispatch

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Direct and coordinate the movement of company equipment and linehaul drivers engaged in transporting incoming and outgoing freight shipments to/from other facilities throughout the system.
  • Coordinate activities of operations to obtain optimum use of equipment, and personnel.
  • Responsible for achieving service, safety, and operational goals.
  • Supports and coordinates efforts to achieve service goals by maintaining contact with the terminal’s Operations team and by establishing relationships with all related departments.
  • Establishes and maintains a good working relationship with labor by resolving problems in timely manner.
  • Administers a safety program which encourages a safe work environment and focus on prevention of collisions and injuries.
  • Ensure compliance with government and company regulations, policies, and procedures..
Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Transportation, or Business Administration or five or more years of successful management experience which includes supervisory responsibility.
  • Proven track record of driving results and continuous improvement in an organization
  • Practical knowledge of leading root cause analysis strategies
  • Proven ability to lead people
  • Proven ability to utilize spreadsheets and ERP systems to manage operations
