We are currently recruiting for a Commercial Customer Service Rater to join our team in Farmington Hills, MI.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Supports the underwriting unit by rating a variety of transactions related to multiple lines, of commercial business, (Auto, WC, & various property coverages) activities. Assures all related support activities are delivered in a manner consistent with company customer service standards and priorities that are responsive to marketing, underwriting, retention and service goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Input endorsements into rating system with a high degree of speed and accuracy.
  • Knowledgeable of appropriate underwriting elements to specific lines of business.
  • Manage account documentation (i.e. new and renewal quotes, endorsements, cancellations, etc.) Ensure that policy transactions are issued and changes are recorded accurately and in a timely manner meeting defined standards for accuracy, quality, quantity and timeliness of work product and other measures of service.
  • Screen transactions to determine proper processing: refer to underwriters those transactions that require their attention; complete transactions directly if within delegated authority.
  • Research and resolve issues, respond to inquiries and questions while providing exceptional customer service to agents and insured’s to facilitate the processing of business.
  • Provide training and leadership to other team members; may act as a “line of business” coordinator
REQUIREMENTS:
  • 3 plus years’ experience using rate making principles and concepts including rules and forms, and state, company and rating organization regulations; knowledge in both property and casualty lines of business preferred. Candidates with 3 years of business related experience demonstrating strong analytical and problem solving skills will also be considered.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills both oral and written.
  • The ability to complete tasks with a high degree of speed and accuracy

  • Research and problem solving skills
  • Basic computer proficiency; able to use word processing, spreadsheet and policy administration software to perform work tasks.
  • Able to perform basic mathematical computations
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma
  • Industry course work preferred
