We are currently looking for a Shipping Agent to join our team! This position will be based out of our Bellmawr, NJ office and report to the Chief Financial Officer.

Description:

The Shipping Agent will work closely with Commercial Vessel Sales to support company sales and shipping. This position requires an excellent administrator with strong communication skills that can coordinate with sales, operations, accounting and banking.

Essential Duties:·

  • Liaise with port authorities, pilots and other internal/external functions to organize operational and administrative services for dockings and sailing of EMR cargo.·
  • Completing and issuing documentation, bills of lading, manifests, stowage plans and forms for internal and various authorities’ requirements.·
  • Responsible for orderly and timely management of disbursements and reconciling vendor accounts.·
  • Keeping various parties updated with vessel progress and departures; liaising with internal personnel and outside contractors.·
  • Lead role in tracking and monitoring vessel costing and highlighting variances affected by arrival, delays and delivery dates required.·
  • Responsible for dealing with any claims where problems may have arisen and where negotiation is needed to ensure proper compensation is provided to the customer or carrier.·
  • The daily duties of a presenting and managing Letters of Credit.
  • Would include the gathering of necessary information or documentation to complete Letters of Credit and any related financial transactions.
  • Preparation of shipping documents to meet letter of credit requirements.o Required to check all information thoroughly to ensure there are no errors and what is being presented is evaluated and validated correctly in the interests of the bank and its policies


Position Requirements

  • You will be working directly with internal and external contacts so it’s important that you are able to work in an organized manner and can communicate effectively at all levels.·
  • You will be a team player and be experienced in working with others’ but also able to work alone in an organized manner.·
  • Related work experience in a fast paced, customer focused industry (Logistics focus preferred) required; shipping experience preferred.·
  • Proven organizational and planning skills, ability to prioritize and meet strict deadlines.·
  • Ability to work flexible hours.·
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) required
  • Previous communication experience with different nationalities preferredo
  • Letter of credit experience preferred.
  • Position will require that role is articulate and extremely numerate and logical in their approach.·
  • Minimal out of town travel required. Would involve day trips to port locations within 100 miles.

Education Requirements: The qualified candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or similar field.
