Under the direction of the Field Service Manager, the Service Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining customer equipment in a prompt and professional manner and promoting a positive company image. This position will be responsible for the installation, care, and maintenance of all integrated digital equipment and interface devices, including printers, multifunction and facsimile equipment, engineering products, digital duplicators, copiers, and other equipment as requested.

  • Accurately diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment and accessories in peak operating condition within manufacturer’s published electrical, mechanical, and output quality specifications
  • Install and configure software pertaining to system products
  • Provide key operator support and training, as needed
  • Repair equipment problems by making the required adjustments or replacing defective parts as necessary
  • Receive proper authorization from customers for more expensive repairs
  • Explain repairs completed to customers and how the customer can prevent it from re-occurring
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance routines, adhering to factory specification on all customer equipment
  • Reinforce operator training issues with customer as appropriate
  • Distribute customer comment cards, or other material as requested, at the end of each service call
  • Assist sales department with installation of new or trial equipment to ensure proper placement and operation
  • Call dispatch promptly when contacted or when finished with an appointment to receive the next assignment
  • Fax the work-order to the dispatch office at the completion of the service call
  • Perform site surveys as required, of network type and status and environmental conditions.
  • Clean and maintain tools and supplies
  • Maintain proper inventory of parts through accurate record-keeping in personal log and work order
  • Record completed work and parts used on the work order and on the machine's recording
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current technology
  • Updated preventative maintenance list
  • Expense reports
