Sample Supports is looking for a confident, capable Backup or PRN Behavioral Therapist to utilize independent judgment and discretion in assessing and implementing effective behavior programming for persons of all ages with developmental disabilities. This position is responsible for providing individual counseling sessions, completing comprehensive behavioral assessments, and providing clinical consultation supports to both the individual in service and their team members while other behavioral specialist are out or on PTO. This is a skilled position that is able to effectively intervene with a wide variety of behavior and clinical issues in order to promote and maintain community-based programming and placements. Sample Supports? Behavior Services Program focuses on a social work approach to managing challenging behaviors and allows each Behavioral Therapist to implement a variety of evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Applied Behavioral Analysis, and Trauma-informed Care and Practices.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual counseling supports to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities utilizing a variety of therapeutic approaches including CBT, ABA
  • Demonstrate understanding of applicable rules and regulations from local, state and federal governments/programs that influence our agency licensing
  • Provides direct client services to individuals on caseload as needed to ensure their health, safety and overall quality of life is maintained
  • Effectively manage paperwork and files for clients and providers/employees according to high program standards, regulations and auditing requirements
  • Ensure that all client paperwork and tracking meet expectations for successful billing and potential claims testing
  • Ability to facilitate agency behavior assessments and create comprehensive clinical behavior plans
  • Evaluates and provides therapeutic intervention for clients using verbal communication and appropriate curriculum according to client's level of cognitive functioning
  • Provide consistent and skilled intervention for behaviors and issues related to developmental disabilities, mental health and trauma histories
  • Maintain successful communication with all team members and establishing a comprehensive case management approach, establishing the agency as a primary member
  • Maintaining positive rapport with clients, and providers while providing services while on call
Qualifications:
  • MSW, LPC, Master's in Counseling, Education or Social Services Required
  • Ability to effectively work independently with minimal supervision
  • Completion of Positive Behavior Supports Program (provided by Sample Supports)
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver?s licenses
  • Must have experience with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities!
  • Must have training and/or experience commensurate with the service or support being provided
  • Must be competent and willing to perform Non-Violent Crisis Intervention physical interventions as trained and complete the CPR/First Aid before being able to be considered for backup
  • Job responsibilities include reporting any suspected maltreatment, abuse, neglect, or exploitation of an at risk individual. (M/A/N/E) Each position is considered a mandatory reporter.
