The Laitram Machine Shop provides cost effective,
zero-defect inventory parts and components to our customers, while supporting
new product development through technical expertise and rapid turnaround. The
supervisor of the mill department is responsible for all aspects of the
departments operation including managing resources, equipment and personnel
effectively and efficiently with the goal of operational excellence in all
aspects of day to day activity.

The supervisor
will be passionate about individual and team development while consistently
meeting customer expectations for delivery, quality, and value. Ensures that
the Laitram Business Philosophy and Continuous Improvement Program are
implemented throughout the department.
Responsibilities:
  • Direct supervision of Mill Department personnel
    across two shifts, coordinating all aspects of mill operations, while leading
    process reviews and continuous improvements to team performance and results.
  • Responsible for monitoring the performance of
    the Mill Department, maintaining and improving equipment, reporting performance
    measures, and evaluating and coaching employees to promote team and individual
    excellence.
  • Build an effective team by fostering
    communication to increase overall productivity.
  • Provide timely, specific feedback to
    subordinates, including quarterly feedback and performance improvement planning
    in line with the Laitram Continuous Improvement timeline.
  • Analyze work flow and priorities, advise on
    component makeability, identify constraints, and develop informed options to
    meet customer expectations.
  • Implement key initiatives in a creative way,
    striving for operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and a highly
    efficient use of labor, resources and equipment.
  • Participate in meetings providing perspective
    on process improvement, labor, equipment, and capacity, while enforcing all
    safety and quality procedures.
Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree
  • 5-7 years experience in a production environment
  • Strong interpersonal, supervisory and
    organizational skills with proven success developing and executing key initiatives,
    project collaboration, and team improvement.
  • High mechanical aptitude, analytical thinking,
    problem solving and math skills
  • Solid computer skills
  • Experience in the execution of LEAN concepts
Desired:
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Industrial
    Engineering
  • Supervision in a machine shop or metal
    fabrication environment
  • Extensive experience with Mills (manual and
    CNC)
  • Experience programming (CAD and Computer Aided
    Manufacturing software)
