Job Description

Requires:  5+ years in accounting/tax office team management, supervisory skills and basic financial/taxation knowledge, sufficient to track workflow priorities for the firm and ensure operating efficiency. 

 

The company is a highly respected accounting firm in business for more than 40 years, serving a wide range of clients and industries. They seek a professional with strong interpersonal, analytical, planning, team management and project management skills to manage their firm-wide staff accountants/tax specialists/CPAs, their projects and workflow.

 

The Tax & CPA Team Manager works closely with the Senior Partner and Office Manager to monitor workflow and due dates and ensure that client needs are satisfied, and assists in implementing corporate efficiencies, processes and procedures as needed.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate CPA assignments and workload, including required prep time, research, and other factors to ensure deadlines are met and time is being managed effectively.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employees throughout the firm, tracking progress of workflows and projects and ensuring that processes and procedures are followed consistently.
  • Assist in budget preparation and controlling budget expenditures by monitoring effective use of resources and reviewing related financial reports. Analyze strengths, weaknesses and opportunities and develop recommendations.
  • Assist in overseeing day-to-day operations, achievement of long and short-term revenue and performance goals of the accountants, and driving a culture focused on service excellence.
  • Provide advice and guidance on problem areas, working with senior management to determine solutions and implement changes.
  • Work collaboratively with partners and stakeholders to develop strategy, business plans, share tools and best practices. Assist and support staff with the goal of performance improvement.
  • Create additional infrastructure, policies, processes and reports where needed to ensure the achievement of overall corporate objectives.
  • Serve as an effective administrator identifying priorities, assuring operational integrity and performance excellence.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, management or accounting
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a team management role within an accounting/CPA/Tax firm.
  • Sufficient knowledge of financial statements, tax returns, accounting terminology, etc. to evaluate CPA assignments and workload, including required prep time, research, and other factors to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Experience managing staff and policies and procedures affecting office administration
  • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) is required
  • Advanced knowledge in organizational development, budget and strategic planning a plus
