The Store Manager is responsible for leading all team members in the efficient and profitable operation of the store, through the implementation of established practices and policies of the company. He/she is responsible for managing the day-to-day store operations, maintaining high store standards and conditions, and fostering a positive environment, to provide consistent fast, efficient, and friendly service ensuring a Quality Experience for both our customers and team members. The Store Manager creates the tone and personality of the store by being an advocate of training, customer service, product knowledge and education, encouraging safe work practices, and a demonstrated commitment to our Mission Statement.

 

The Store Manager is the representative of illy in the local community organizations. This is an exempt position and is bonus eligible.

 

Job Requirements

· Ensure and accountable for profitability of the store by growing sales and controlling costs of goods, inventory levels, labor, supplies and expenses

· Responsible for the continuous respect of the Operating Procedures

· Ensure proper team member coverage, scheduling according to the needs of business while maintaining target labor costs

· Identify staffing--interviewing process for new applicants and review of training needs of qualified candidates with Operations Manager and local HR

· Responsible for the on-going training, development, disciplinary and efficiency to ensure the associate’s work complies with job description

· Generate and utilize daily, weekly, quarterly and annual financial reports to monitor sales and costs and makes recommendations for improvements

· Responsible for the opening, closing and reconciliation of the cash register system--able to perform all POS duties, front and back of house functions coordinating with the Assistant Operations Manager as necessary

· Oversee all cash and banking needs of the store including opening and closing procedures

· Maintain proper loss prevention standards, review of cash handling procedures, deposits and safe procedures following the Operations Procedures

· Maintain high cleanliness standards consistently throughout the store; in the areas of store appearance, merchandise and equipment

· Promote and practice a safe environment and work habits, identify and resolve potential safety hazards, operational inconsistencies and report of any team member or customer incidents. Conduct monthly safety meetings and ensure team member compliance in all safety initiatives, according to OSHA requirements

· Pro-active in solving customer problems and satisfying customers in various situations

· Consistently monitor, coach and encourage team members to meet the company’s service standards

· Ensure team members are educated on our products and services, by developing an understanding of our various types of coffee, tea products, blends and roasts

· Conduct Quality Control checks as necessary to ensure quality in the cup during shifts for quality assurance

· Provide ongoing training and development to all team members in the areas of operating standards, customer service, product knowledge, compliance training as required

· Demonstrate the ability to lead, effectively communicate, and champion the Company, its Mission and Values and Operating Procedures

· Builds morale and team spirit by fostering a work environment where team members input is encouraged and valued

· Continually develops team members, establishing specific performance objectives, and measuring team member performance quarterly

 

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required. College education preferred

3 years food and beverage management experience required

Experience supervising the work of others (2 years must)

Proficient on a computer; familiar with software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Docs and Outlook

Experience with POS systems

Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and special events as needed

Well-organized, detail-oriented and able to multi-task

Must have effective problem solving/decision making abilities

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills

Must have Food Handler’s Card or ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire

Must adhere to Core Values

Ability to stand for several hours a day including the use of hands and arms

Must be able to lift up to 30lbs and frequently bend and twist from the waist
