Job Overview: 

 

The Second Shift Supervisor will lead and manage all production activities within the Kansas City manufacturing operation while establishing and maintaining core LW priorities.  This position has a key role in establishing defect-free part consistency by ensuring equipment is properly maintained and processes and procedures are followed.  In addition, the Second Shift Supervisor will work closely with the management team guiding the Laminate Works Kansas City operation. 

 

Essential Functions: 

 

  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, or split shifts. 

  • Implement production schedules through the operation of equipment, and the supervision of machine operators and helpers. 

  • Notify the Manufacturing Manager of any potential scheduling issues proactively. 

  • Follow and manage defined systems and processes by implementing and following the standard operating procedures (SOP’s) for the Kansas City operation.  This includes making recommendations for modifications or new SOP’s as necessary. 

  • Work closely with First Shift Supervisors and the Manufacturing Manager to ensure parts are produced and delivered as promised. 

  • Provides timely information to Manufacturing Manager regarding machining issues as well as other factors that could affect on-time deliveries. 

  • Responsible for ongoing proactive maintenance of machines, saw blades and tooling, and other machining tools and equipment. 

  • Responsible for the quality and accuracy of all parts and panels produced. 

  • Manage and train direct report employees on the operation and maintenance of equipment.  

  • Ensure that all machining areas are clean and free of debris and clutter and properly organized. 

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. 

  • Communicate and reinforce LW values, policies and procedures while managing, training, coaching, counseling and reviewing job contributions of machining staff. 

  • Enforce the safety program and policies to ensure a safe working environment. 

  • Accountable for reducing material costs resulting from waste in the machining processes. 

  • Accountable for securing the facility at shift end.
