Job Description

The Team Leader is responsible for ensuring the success of our Special Events. The Team Leader supervises a team of people who are committed to providing quality service to our customers. The daily work environment requires quick responses and adaptability to rapidly changing situations. The perfect candidate for this position must be a strong leader who can handle multiple tasks in a very high-paced and dynamic environment. This position will be crucial in ensuring Don’s Johns remains an industry leader. This individual reports to the Operations Manager. The Team Leader will frequently put on a "sales hat" and ensures customer satisfaction at events. They will collaborate and work closely with the Sales Account Representatives for each assigned project.

The Team Leader - Special Events should have a certain level of knowledge about the contract so that he/she raises the flag to sales and to the customer whenever the customer is requesting something that would change billing amounts. They should also focus on up-selling opportunities to maximize Don’s Johns revenue. The Team Leader is responsible for ensuring that along with high quality customer service, cost efficiency is a focus and that the long-term profitability of the company is always considered. They should be aware of planning the event such that the number of trips, miles and man-hours are minimized. In addition, the Team Leader will conduct operations in a way to ensure all drivers and customers are safe. Safety comes first!

In this role, the main focus is to coordinate special events in order to maximize satisfaction for our customers and safety for our employees. Events requiring the Team Leader - Special Events will typically be events with 50+ units. During March through October 24/7 availability will be expected. This individual should expect to work an average 50+ hours a week during that time period. In addition, there may be events that require overnight travel.

Pre-Contract: Prior to contract signing, the Team Leader may meet with a customer. In addition, may collaborate with Sales to provide assistance.

Pre-Event: Once the contract is signed, the Team Leader will coordinate unit placement and other logistics with the customer as needed. They will teach the customer the best unit configurations to distribute waste equally and communicate realistic load-in and load-out timing, etc.

Load-In: During Load-in, the Team Leader will typically be on site the entire time to ensure a smooth load in and that customer expectations are exceeded. They will work directly with the event managers to place units, etc.

Event: Depending on the event, the Team Leader should plan on being there during different times. During large events exceeding 300 units, they should expect to be on-site during the entire event.

Load-Out: Depending on the customer requirements, the Team Leader may need to be on-site during all or a portion of the load-out.

Experience and Skills:

Requirements:

Knowledge of routing, mapping and of the different territories in the Washington DC Metropolitan area including; Northern Virginia, Fairfax, Arlington, Alexandria, Loudoun, Fauquier, Fredericksburg, Prince William, and MD. Project Leaders must be assertive, resourceful, composed, and conduct themselves in a professional manner.

  • Well versed in logistics.
  • Superior Communication Skills: verbal and written.
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish a plus.
  • Able to embrace change and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
