Position: Machinist
Reports to: Team Leader – Machine Shop
Supervises: N/A
Job Summary
Machinist
Performs specialized machining duties related to the design and fabrication of custom parts, components, and fixtures.
• Makes custom machine parts according to specifications using a variety of automated and manual machines and tools.
• Lays out hole locations and drills and taps holes on parts for assembly
• Set-up and operate metal-working machines to shape parts.
• Works with Engineering Project Managers to design machine fixtures for customization.
• Responsible for the quality and accuracy of own work.
Knowledge/Skills
Ability to lift up to 70 pounds
Mobility requirements include standing, walking, reaching, bending.
Strong working knowledge of Geometry, Trigonometry, and basic math,
Knowledgeable with using Conversational CNC program code,
Ability to read and troubleshoot CNC program code
Ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings and blueprints
Ability to read and follow written and or verbal instructions
Good communications and interpersonal skills.
Accountabilities/Scope
Interfaces: Production, Engineering, Sales management personnel, and Customers;
People Managed: None.
Decisions: Under minimal supervision, works alone or as part of a team.
Impact of Error: Impact is on product quality, order accuracy and timeliness of product delivery to the customer.
Education and or Experience
High school diploma preferably from a vocational / technical institution, plus 5 or more years of related experience in a machining and assembly environment, extensive knowledge in ProTrak and Haas CNC mills and Bridgeport Knee Mills usage, along with electrical controls and fixturing knowledge.
