As a Meat/Dairy/Frozen Team Leader at Target, you are responsible for the meat/dairy/frozen areas of the store. You are accountable to the overall standards, instocks and guest satisfaction within those departments. You will continuely drive the meat/dairy/frozen business by ensuring key seasonal items are fresh and available. You are accountable to inventory management, ordering, instocks, food safety, product presentation and overall Target standards to drive guest satisfaction within meat/dairy/frozen.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

• Ensure the team is following all food safety/quality standards for their area; all day, every day.

• Follow perishables inventory procedures to ensure an accurate recording of inventory, be available to check-in product from vendors/deliveries.

• Leverage area routines and ensure team members are executing and following best practices and production cards to specifications (if applicable).

• Plan pre-transition activities, following pre-transition merchandising guidelines to ensure all non-carryforward merchandise is out of the backroom, and work with the presentation team to get sets completed on schedule.

• Develop and maintain relationships with Direct Store Delivery (DSD) vendors; ensure they are meeting all of Target’s standards and guidelines to maintain appropriate in-stocks and presentation.

• Ensure ad sets, sales plans, transitions, revisions and adjacency changes are completed in a timely and accurate manner.

• Ensure accurate instocks by placing store initiated orders according to best practice.

• Ensure quality assurance/product safety recalls are completed within 24 hours of notification.

• Deliver an exceptional guest experience by ensuring team members are knowledgeable and empowered to make it right for guests.

• Demonstrate and model excellent service and selling behaviors. Be welcoming to all guests who enter the store. Provide timely, courteous, knowledgeable service to guests.

• Assess, recommend and retain top talent at the hourly team member level and proactively communicate staffing and scheduling needs to the HR team.

• Partner with leaders to hold team members accountable to their performance by teaching, coaching, training and delivering timely performance feedback; partner with leader(s) as needed.

• Ensure a coaching culture by providing on the spot recognition for team members when they exceed expectations and guide team members when expectations are not being met.

• Stay current on your store’s financial, team and operational performance; identify the root cause of problems and take action to achieve performance goals.

• Set priorities daily for the team and resolve team member concerns in a timely manner; communicate to other leaders as needed.

• Participate and hold team members accountable to reduce shortage/loss.

• Effectively execute and lead the team through new initiatives and change; champion new technology and processes to grow sales and incorporate digital routines into store culture.

• Understand and leverage appropriate escalation tools to solve team members, process and/or guest issues; notify and partner with leader(s) as needed.

• Anticipate guest needs and work with team members to proactively solve problems.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Previous retail experience preferred, but not required.

• Experience specifically in grocery management preferred.

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.

• Able to lead and hold others accountable.

• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and other team members.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate clearly and effectively in all situations.

• Able to access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues.

• Able to work independently and as part of a team.

• Able to think quickly on the spot to answer guest questions.

• Able to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.

• Able to learn and adapt to current technology needs, including basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Intranet systems, CCTV systems, etc.).

• Able to interpret instructions, reports and information on computer screens and key information on a computer or other devices.

• Able to scan and handle all merchandise.

• Able to accurately handle cash register operations.

• Able to climb and descend ladders.

• Able to lift 40 lbs.

• Able to move merchandise efficiently and safely.

• Willing to cross-train and work in other areas of the store, as needed.

• Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends and holidays) and regular attendance necessary.
