Job Description

Responsibilities:


This position of General Manager will have the responsibility of managing the entire operation and reports to the President of the Board of Directors.  These responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Day to day operations of the individual business units
  • Ensure positive guest experiences including food quality, inventory availability, customer service, etc
  • Directly managing the managers of the various business units including establishing performance objectives, annual reviews, and salary administration
  • Overseeing the hiring of personnel to provide excellent customer service and improve business performance
  • Creating and managing the budget of each of the overall businesses including establishing performance targets (sales and expenses), capital budget expenses, and general P&L categories. 
  • Coordinate the various departments including accounting, marketing, procurement, payroll, etc.
  • Planning and execution of the annual Oktoberfest event including construction, procurement, permitting, etc.
  • Communicating with the Board, Shareholders, Retail partners, and employees as to status of the projects and performance of the business units.
  • Be a change advocate and mentor to lead the organization, integrating the business units and employee base, emphasizing teamwork, accountability, and business growth

Experience:

  • Minimal experience is 7 years with a BS in Business Administration or 10 years equivalent experience.
  • Must have business operational experience with a focus on food and alcohol service
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Skills should include budget control, staffing, customer service, P&L analysis, management, planning, and leadership
  • Fluent in German language desired
  • Salary, bonus, and benefits are negotiable based on experience
     

Company Description

Alpine Village, formed in 1968 in Torrance California, is a retail and entertainment center built around a European theme. It consists of several business units including:

· A grocery market selling award winning meat products, award winning bakery products, imported dry goods and alcohol, and a European style café
· A restaurant serving traditional European meals augmented by American favorites, a full bar including many microbrews, and serves as an entertainment center/night club in the evening hosting concerts and dance events.
· A swap meet that operates 6 days a week
· Retail stores primarily focused on European goods
· An annual Oktoberfest that operates for approximately 8 weeks and is ranked among the nation’s top Oktoberfests.
