Our Helping Hands team makes all the difference for our customers. In this role, you’ll coordinate the work of others to keep the parking lot clear of shopping carts and safe for our customers. You will lend a “helping hand” by walking customers to their vehicles, assisting with groceries, and leaving customers with a positive experience as they end their shopping trips at Wegmans!


Customer (What We Believe)

  • Lead employees by example by proactively providing incredible customer service, approach customers and ask if they need assistance loading purchases in their cars and offer to give or take shopping carts
  • Build rapport while assisting customers by engaging them in pleasant conversation, offering a smile and assuring they are treated well during their experience; being sure to follow all companywide established Helping Hands programs
  • Ensure the team responds to pages promptly from cashiers to assist customers loading purchases in their cars, ensuring purchases arrive at their destination in the condition they left the store
  • Assist Front End team members by running registers as necessary to minimize customer wait time at check out and attending to maintenance issues if additional assistance is needed

Product (What We Do)

  • Delegate tasks to team members, being certain to provide timely feedback to help employees progress and report any issues or concerns to Front End Manager
  • Maintain the appearance and safety of the parking lot, vestibule and landscaped areas; ensuring shopping carts are not scattered about, garbage is picked up, snow is cleared and salt is laid out, as necessary
  • Keep shopping carts clean and dry, wiping them down in the snow or rain, and offering additional service during the inclement weather
  • Educate and ensure team members are properly handling products, using equipment, keep accurate logs and follow sanitation practices in accordance with food and human safety guidelines and Simplification 5S procedures

Work Environment

  • Work includes walking, standing for up to 4 hours without a break, frequent heavy lifting, shelving of product, repetitive hand and arm movements, bending, and reaching, along with interaction with customers and co-workers. The average weight range of items lifted is 8-32 pounds with a maximum weight lifted greater than 50 pounds occasionally to frequently. You may receive assistance with heavy items, if available. May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Customer service experience, preferably in a food service, grocery or retail setting
  • Managerial/supervisory experience
