BASIC PURPOSE:  The benefits administrator position is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of the company’s group benefits programs (medical, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, flexible spending plan, EAP and 401(k) plans).  This position provides support in researching and resolving benefit related issues.  This is advanced clerical, benefits work in the Human Resources Department.  General supervision is received from a manager who reviews work procedures and output for accuracy and through general observation of the work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide excellent customer service support to associates both in the field and at the corporate office regarding group benefit programs.  Answer questions and provide guidance in a timely manner.
  • Assist with Annual Enrollment process and any other communication campaigns throughout the year.
  • Provide general administrative support related to group benefit programs such as processing invoices, mailings, posting information on internal website, etc. 
  • Work effectively with other departments as needed: Payroll, HRIS, IT, Operations and Accounting.
  • Attend benefit meetings with vendors and consultants pertaining to plan changes, development, and administration.

Knowledge and Skills:

Education:  Associate’s Degree required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred, with two (2) years of experience or six (6) years of experience in any human resource discipline; or any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Experience:  Two (2) years of experience in any human resource or payroll discipline, or in lieu of education, six (6) years. 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of basic benefits & human resources theory and principles
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to individuals both verbally and in writing
  • Microsoft Office Suite, intermediate Excel skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • Ability to navigate various payroll and HR systems
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
