  • Associate's degree preferred, or equivalent trader certification (welding, machinist, HVAC, journeyman electrician)
  • 1+ years experience
  • Team player who can work with all levels of personnel
  • Knowledge on machine shop equipment: welding, lathe, ban saw, milling machines, power tools
  • Strong knowledge of safe work practices
  • Excellent interpersonal/customer service skills
  • Basic PC skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions, both oral and written

The Facilities Tradesman I associate’s primary role is performing various semi-skilled tasks to maintain a 24/7 facilities operation. This position primarily consists of preforming preventive and corrective maintenance in a timely manner to minimize downtime.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Performs daily inspections of the facilities mechanical equipment to ensure proper operation.
  • Inspects and tests electrical and HVAC equipment, lighting, signal, communication, power circuits, air compressors, wrapping machines, heat tunnel, exhaust fans, conveyors, extruding equipment, forklifts and dock doors.
  • Performs preventive maintenance to building systems and equipment as assigned and creates equipment check sheets as requested.
  • Performs electrical repairs, such as replacing lamps, ballasts, switches, receptacles, cord caps, wiring of single and three phase motors, and installation of circuits.
  • Isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment using testing instruments such as ammeter, ohmmeter, voltmeter, testing lamp, or growler.
  • Replaces faulty switches, sockets, and other elements of electrical and HVAC system.
  • Mounts motors, transformers, and lighting fixtures onto positions and completes circuits per diagram specifications.
  • Inspects completed work for conformance with requirements of local building and safety codes.
  • Applies skills in adapting procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of PLC, NEC and NFPA codes.
  • Support training: planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Provide support to engineering during manufacturing modifications and new equipment installations, oversee project fabrication or installation.
  • Creates, follows up and closes work and material requests via Facilities Management Program and/or EXCEL
  • Ability to work various hours and respond to afterhours emergency requests.
  • Available to work alternating schedules based on project demands.
