The Right Stuff

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university plus 4+ years related experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Knowledge of database basics (e.g. Microsoft Access, SQL) strongly preferred
  • Well-developed oral and written presentation skills, with the ability to summarize complex concepts into understandable and easy-to-follow presentation materials; ability to work with mathematical concepts (statistics, probabilities, algebraic expressions, etc.). Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to define problems, seek and collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract or concrete variables
  • Experience with or ability to work in a fast paced, high throughput environment. Ability to negotiate and communicate effectively with all levels of management. Excellent teamwork skills with ability to establish productive working relationships with other departments and personnel
  • Strong collaborative/team work skills that encourage team partnership and promote enthusiasm; Ability to influence and collaborate across various functional groups including operations, sales, distribution, marketing, finance, programming and legal
  • Familiarity of financial concepts and theory desired; e.g. NPV, ROI, time-value of money, WACC, statement of cash flows, etc. 

The Role

We are seeking a passionate, energetic and flexible individual to join our International Business Unit as Financial Analyst. Our team operationalizes, markets, and sells international programming packages, available in over 20 language groups, within the United States. 

 

The Financial Analyst has responsibility for providing cross-functional, financial analytics support to drive the strategy to acquire new subscribers and retain existing subscribers for DISH’s satellite and Sling’s OTT multicultural video business.  This role will specifically be responsible for the overall strategy for new customer promotions as well as existing customer retention marketing. This role is responsible for planning, design and implementation of financial and operational cost analyses and models, budgeting and forecasting, analytical support, long-term strategic planning support, subscriber valuation support, and recommending and implementing methods for improvement. The role will require frequent cross-functional communication and collaboration with individuals at all levels of the organization.  Cross-functional teams include; Programming, Marketing, Finance, Retention & Operations.   This position will report to the General Manager – International Business.

 

 

The Responsibilities

  • Lead the financial analysis for new/existing programming deals, built subscriber, NPV and COGS models;
  • Lead the pricing, packaging, ROI, NPV, viewership and profitability analysis for acquiring new customers and retaining existing international business customers for both DISH and Sling
  • Support the creation of the promotional and retention strategy for DISH’s International business – specific work includes financial and business case analysis, and cross-functional coordination and planning. 
  • Develops financial models and reports to monitor key metrics, projections and highlight areas of concern and/or opportunity. Utilizes MS Excel and other modeling tools to generate financial reports and trend analysis
  • Prepares executive-level analysis, reports, and project status overviews for presentation to senior decision-makers within the company.
  • Performs financial and strategic analyses for the Sling TV International business and works collaboratively across multiple groups to improve performance
  • Completes budgets through development and design of budget models, interaction with various departments, and communication of objectives and progress to the CFO
