Job Description:

The Technology Center of Siemens Healthcare has an immediate opening in Princeton, NJ for a Research Group Head with a focus on Medical Informatics. Our Princeton facility is recognized for providing a stimulating environment for highly talented and self-motivated researchers.

The Research Group Head drives the development of leading edge medical informatics through customer, funded and internal research. He/she develops both a technology and a business strategy and has overall budget responsibility for the Research Group. He/she is responsible for the transfer of R&D results into offers to strategically suitable Siemens Healthcare units, overseeing the engineering efforts required to support the translation of the R&D results into Siemens product quality solutions, with emphasis for the healthcare domain and in compliance to medical quality standards. The Research Group Head is expected to perform disciplinary and technical leadership, coaching, development and evaluation of Research Group staff.

The ideal candidate should have a MS/Ph.D in computer science or engineering, and 3+ years of industry experience in leading R&D teams and projects. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

Expertise in leading software development of advanced computational tools and platforms for medical informatics is a must. Candidate should be fluent in authoring software development specifications and architecture diagrams. Solid domain knowledge in medical informatics and proficiency in information integration, intelligent agents, predictive and prescriptive analytics, NLP, and cloud based solutions are required. Practical knowledge of the clinical applications is necessary. Solid track record in the planning and execution of large R&D projects with good customer satisfaction is a strong plus.

What are my responsibilities?

* Development and implementation of the Research Group strategy in alignment with the Siemens technology strategy. Strategic positioning and planning of respective Research Group including technology portfolio management and new topics, in close cooperation with the Technology Center Head.

* Development and implementation of a business strategy for the Research Group aligned with the business goals of the respective department.

* Acquisition and utilization of knowledge concerning the internal and external trends in the represented technical areas (business and technology).

* Disciplinary and technical leadership / coaching of Research Group staff; driving Performance Management Process e.g. target setting, evaluation and competency development for Project Managers and project staff.

* Focus on applying deep technological knowledge to develop new solutions for the future.

* Use of customer and business understanding to optimize value added.

* Interaction with colleagues and internal customers on a global basis as well as leading universities.

What do I need to qualify for this job?

o MS/Ph.D or comparable experience in computer science or engineering.

o 3+ years of experience leading R&D teams or projects

o Expertise in leading development of computational tools/platforms needed in medical informatics and knowledge of machine learning and AI

o Consulting experience in applying/developing state-of-the-art computational methods with a high end customer service orientation in dealing with internal and external customers

o Experience in best practices software development and application of agile processes for project management and quality control.

o Experience developing software in a Windows environment

o Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal & written) and English language skills required.

o Willingness to travel 30% domestic/international.

o Successful candidate must be able to work with controlled technology in accordance with US export control law.
