Job Summary
The Store Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of store operations. The Store Manager's overall goal is to improve the store's productivity and profitability. An incumbent Store Manager serves as a role model for all retail management and execution by delivering consistently exceptional customer experience. The Store Manager displays strong management skills, and is a developer of people. The Store Manager reports directly to the Directors of Operations and Merchandising, and the Owner.

Essential Accountabilities:
Store Management / Team Development / Customer Service
Deliver the Hallmark brand promise through enthusiastic people, exceptional customer service, and impeccable store standards. Successfully manage all aspects of the customer experience and store operations, including: driving sales; recruiting, hiring, and terminating; staff development; payroll management; inventory control / loss prevention; and profitability. Demonstrate exemplary planning, organization, and communication skills to ensure successful store operation. Store Manager must be able to measure results of store and its staff, and apply results to future store and staff development.

Operations
Achieve performance objectives for store in sales, customer service, payroll, markdowns and shrinkage. Drive sales, IAT goals, and Gold Crown transactions. Discuss store operations, profitability, store appearance, and merchandising with the Director of Operations on a regular basis. Manage all store records, such as accounting procedures, banking, receiving, invoicing, and time records. Monitor system-matics and maintain appropriate storage facilities and records for those facilities. Merchandise products according to instructions from the Director of Operations, the Director of Merchandising, as well as overall store guidelines.

Employee / Leadership Development
Communicate a compelling vision for the business. Inspire, motivate, and direct others to do their best through open, clear communication, optimism, and aligning words with actions. Deliver new hire and ongoing training to employees that will enable them to perform in a productive and profitable Hallmark Gold Crown store. This will require a thorough knowledge of Hallmark products, services, systems and store operations, as well as a proficiency in one-on-one training skills, knowledge of adult learning, and a thorough understanding of skills needed to lead and deliver world-class retailing. Monitor that training is delivered according to guidelines and ensure that expectations are being met by conducting follow-up.

Other Responsibilities
Work closely with the Director of Operations to review new policies, operational changes, and/or training initiatives. Coordinate new technology implementation and training as directed by all Superiors. Identify and develop targeted training and communication for specific operational needs. Execute marketing events. Position also requires duties involving lifting up to 40 pounds.

Education / Experience:
Required Education / Experience
Two years retail experience in a supervisor role; Experiences that demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, and planning skills along with strong management, interpersonal, problem solving, written and verbal skills; Familiarity with technology;

Preferred Education / Experience
Two-year Associate's or Four-year Bachelor's degree in a business-related field; Three years retail experience in assignments with increasing management responsibility; A constant desire for improvement and need to help the customer.

The Store Manager should: Understand Hallmark retail, the retail industry, and the competition in the marketplace; Motivate direct reports, assess people and empower the staff; Be action oriented, make decisions with ease and comfortably handle risk; Select and build effective, successful teams to achieve business goals; Possess integrity and trust.

Company Description

Started in 1975, our owner purchased a pharmacy in Hartland, WI.
Soon after, he added a Hallmark department, which kept growing, within the pharmacy.
By 1980, he opened his first "Hallmark Gold Crown" store.
In 1998, he sold his pharmacy to focus on his Hallmark Gift stores.
Fast forward to 2017, along with 2 daughters, 2 grandsons, and a staff of 75, Fredrick's runs 6 Hallmark stores and 1 Gift store.
