Truck Driver - Chemicals

Independent Chemical Corporation, one of the Top 100 Chemical Distributors in North America, has an immediate opening for you to join our team as a Truck Driver - Chemicals in our Paterson, NJ facility! Independent Chemical manufactures and distributes chemicals to many markets, including Adhesives, Paint & Coatings, Cosmetics & Personal Care, Detergents, Environmental Remediation, Fertilizers, Food & Beverage, Household & Industrial Cleaning, Lubricants, Meat and Seafood Processing, Pharmaceuticals & Nutrition, Textiles, Water Treatment and more. We are looking for qualified candidates who have had experience in delivering chemicals or packaged products in the chemical industry.

 Roles & Responsibilities

• Unload & load freight off/on trailers
• Safely operate forklift to move heavy products on pallets/skids
• Safely operate a tractor/trailer combination for up to 11 consecutive hours, in all types of weather, while safely transporting hazardous/non-hazardous materials
• Perform vehicle inspections
• Operate and maintain records in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR), Department of Transportation (DOT) and company policies as required.
• Maintain a current Class A CDL with Hazardous Materials and Tanker Vehicle (Tanker) endorsements.
• Prompt daily attendance at assigned truck route location.
• Perform other duties as assigned when staying inside the building.
• Make recommendations for continued improving opportunities for our operations.

Physical Requirements

• Able to lift freight and other objects of various shapes, sizes and weights up to 50 lbs
• Able to safely climb in and out of a tractor and trailer
• Able to sit for extended periods of time in a tractor and/or forklift
• Able to safely walk and stand for extended periods of time on various surfaces that may be uneven or slippery
• Able to reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat & kneel as necessary to perform the job duties.

 Other Requirements

• Able to work a flexible schedule and as many as 12-14 hours in a day, including any of the shifts (day, evening, night and weekend).
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class A Commercial driver's license.
• Hazardous materials, Double/Triple endorsement required.
• Tank Vehicle (Tankers) experience preferred.
• Forklift experience preferred.
• Safe driving record and history.
• Pass DOT drug test and have no prior positive tests or refusals.
• Pass a company paid DOT physical and background check.
