Job Description

To establish and maintain patient accounts, including entering and updating patient information in the billing system. To coordinate between the clinics and billing representatives that patient information is accurate and up to date. To coordinate between the clinics and reimbursement representatives that patient information is accurate and up to date.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Verifying correct patient information, including insurance benefits, and creating accounts consisting of all required registration information and necessary consents, standing orders and the dialysis master.
  • Update patient information in a timely manner to avoid delays in billing cycles.
  • Contacting unit secretaries, social workers and/or clinical personnel at dialysis centers to obtain missing or incorrect information. Inform dialysis centers of patient/account status changes, i.e. insurance updates. Maintaining a professional work relationship with all facility and office staff.
  • Verifying accuracy of data entered prior to month-end processes. This includes verifying accuracy of data and insurance information on all Medicaid and account issue patients as well as entering changes presented by the clinics, reimbursement and billing staff.
  • Create and maintain patient files including purging files as directed by manager.
  • Update patient accounts with newly acquired information and notifying appropriate personnel if claims require rebilling or require voiding and regenerating.
  • Update patient insurance accounts after month end according to Medicare coordination guidelines and switch dates.
  • Keep up to date Medicare switch dates, referral dates and onset dates according to insurance guidelines and requirements.
  • Complete transient verification check sheet on out of town patients who require payment at time services rendered and provide to clinics before treatment.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required or assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or GED required. 1-2 years of prior medical business office experience preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $12.00 to $16.00 /hour
