The Job

The Product and Category Analytics Manager will lead the analytics team for the Merchandising, Category Management and Retail Development departments and set the standards and vision for data analytics, reporting, and strategy development. The Product and Category Analytics Manager will provide leadership, strategic vision and insight into business directives, and create short/long term goals for the team to meet the strategic visions of upper management. The Product and Category Analytics Manager will advise other departments within Ace on any data or analytics on product or category performance where cross-over occurs, such as within the Retail Development team or with other departments; such as Advertising, Marketing and Business Intelligence teams.

What you'll do
  • Develop strategies for analytical reporting for use in special projects designated by the Category Management, Retail Development and Merchandising teams
  • Develop and implement all analytical training required for the analytics team to use, understand, and execute finished reports
  • Evaluate current reporting methods and design new process/ procedures to create time saving process and increase productivity for end users while meeting the organizations set goals
  • Interpret and analyze trends in current business and data analytics tools being used by Ace and implement changes to existing tools to better utilize data analytics to enhance interpretations of data
  • Lead and direct the Merchandising and Category Management teams on creating new implementation practices with updated data analytics tools and reporting
  • Keep current with merchandising/ category management trends as well as market trends through communication with Merchandising department managers, merchants, and category management teams
  • Lead and motivate the Product and Category Analytics team through balancing workload and business partner expectations while maintaining overall goals
What you need to succeed
  • BS/BA in business, math, statistics, marketing, finance or equivalent experience. MBA is preferred
  • 10+ years of merchandising, marketing, or category management experience is preferred
  • Well-rounded knowledge of corporate merchandising best practices and key financial/ retail metrics
  • Extensive familiarity with analytic and modeling tools (transactional and SKU-level data, CRM technologies, and segmentation/targeting behavior, and demographic data preferred)
  • Must be knowledgeable of different quantitative research techniques; familiarity with various data sources
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Hardware industry product knowledge
  • Excellent problem solving skills required
  • Demonstrate strong decision making skills
  • Highly creative, flexible and adaptable with good follow-through
  • Proven ability to multi-task projects and meet deadlines
  • Proven project management experience
  • Experience in turning metrics based data into actionable information/ recommendations
  • Ability to provide end-to-end analytic support including pulling data, preparing analysis, interpreting data, and presenting the data/findings/strategic recommendations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and possess the ability to present information to external and internal groups
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Access and statistical packages; experience with data mining and query tools; experience with WebFocus data warehouse tools; InfoAssist; experience with Teradata; CRM tools; Alteryx Data tool; Domo BI tool
  • Self-starter, strong drive, highly motivated to make change and bring about fact driven decisions.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
